unfortunatly, both the crack on the im and the spark plug threads are common problems on all the mod motors. if im not mistaken there was a recall on the im so you may be able to get that fixed for free. the spark plug threads, on the other hand, infuriates me. every week im fixing the threads on one of our tow trucks. and as you can imagine it gets to be a pain in the ass to reach the back cylinders of a v10 thats sitting in basically what amounts to a f350 engine bay.

Never heard of a recall, but I will look into it. I think I have it fixed with Plastic Welder, but for how long it'll work is anyone's guess.

I looked it up and Ford did indeed extend the warranty on their intakes, I believe they called it a silent recall, on the 1999-2001 Mustang GT. They extended it to 7 years from manufacturing date, so we're SOL but thanks anyway.

Cool site. Thanks. If it must be replaced, there's an eBay seller listing the new ones with the aluminum crossover and all gaskets for $180 shipped. Not bad, and I know my parents will want a new part. I was mainly thinking of junkyards because I thought it was gonna be way more.

Got it fixed. Had to touch up one spot with a little more Plastic Welder from a pinhole, but I took it for a stress test  and it seems to be doing fine. Hopefully it'll at least last till it cools down some outside. I did drill the hole as suggested to hopefully keep it from cracking worse. Thank you for the help and suggestions all.

Good, good, glad you got it. Hope mother keeps the stang as long as possible. I think you knew this but my mother recently got rid of her big ole Caddy and got a nice lil Subaru Outback. She loves it and reported 35MPG at 80MPH . Said it was 31MPG@ 60MPH, then she hit the interstate and sped up to 80 and got the 35MPG. Pretty sweet little car if ya ask me. For what it is anyway... Ive driven it and it does not feel (to drive) like it looks it should drive. :stumped: Does that make sense? lol, anyway, anyone remember "Red Green"? This reminded me of this.
