I can't get the tire on the rim. I have tried two flat heads like you would a bike tire but that does not work. Is there a certain tool I need to get?

I have always used large flat heads even on car tires. You sure the rim and tire are same size? I have see people try to put a 14in tire on a 15in rim before.

@90gtvert: Dude! You think of EVERYTHING, don't you? LOL! Excellent post for sure. I did a quick search at Mecca...Harbor Freight, to the uninitiated...and found this little beauty: www.harborfreight.com/24-inch-general-purpose-tire-iron-93230.htmlOh...just a note to the OP. If your scoot has 10 inch tyres this could be a bit more dificult. The smaller tyre tends to be less willing to flex than larger ones. The last time I had a tire removed the guy (probably weighed 280lbs, and was about 6.0ft tall) looked at it and sighed! He had a really hard time with it for sure.

I have a couple of those tire irons from HF. They work okay. I drilled a hole in my bench and I use a large bolt to hold the rim down while I pry on the tires. The tire irons will chew up an aluminum rim so on customer's tires I take the rim and new tire down to a tire shop and they do it for $10.

the last tire place I took it to they wouldn't mess with it, Its a 16inch tire that for my Benelli M50. I guess I can try to get a buddy to help hold it down and pry it on with some tire irons I just don't want to pop the tube, its already happend like two times.

I use my bench vice and a 15x15inch piece of plywood (for the backside of the wheel& vice) to break the bead. Then i make sure both beads are in the center inner most part of the rim as much as possible. Then spray soapy water all over the bead area. I used to use prybars and old shaved down screwdrivers until my buddy loaned me his spoons and rim savers. Now i will never go back! If i only knew what those lil spoons would do 100 tires ago?!!

Some are easier than others. I have found metal wheels seem to be easier to get the tire on and off of over aluminum wheels.
