you guys have given soom goood advice as far as what springs and rollers to use for my situation.. I get the feeling that sliders are better for longevity and consistancy, but rollers are cheaper and a little easier to set up. if i get a setup with cheap rollers that works, does the weight stay the same for the sliders? or would i need to start all over trying to find the "perfect" setup? sorry if this is a silly question, but i am new at scooter tuning and i am just curious :scoot2:

Usually, when switching to sliders, add a gram.

Per roller, slider, or weight. Not total combined roller weight. Just in case you miss-understood?

i actually almost posted if that was per slider or total, but it didnt make alot of sence to me to divide 1 gram between 6 sliders. makes total sence to add 1 gram per slider. thanks for clarifing that, cause i reall did almost ask!

I was once informed by Autotech355 (Carlos) that he and most road racers in his area prefer rollers over sliders for performance.
Sliders are better for daily riders though, since they last much longer.

Ive heard that as well from pro tuners all over. They say the sliders take more force to push out. I run em in my DD but my race scoot runs rollers. The OveRRange kit with the big, deep vari dont like sliders at all.

The only problem I see with sliders is that they can make the takeoff too aggressive. Since it takes more force to start them in motion, the revs are too high with some setups until the CVT "shifts" or too low after it shifts if you are tuning for the first gear. With straight grooved torque drivers it's not usually an issue. None of my scoots are race scoots though.

I love my sliders gives riding these twist and go scooters a very different feel when daily driving.

I run rollers here and have no urge to switch? You say that with a question mark I've heard all the arguments for switching and am not 100% convinced. A roller rolls up a ramp (as it is meant to do), if you use a slider the actuation is not consistent, or is about as consistent as rollers with flat spots.......... along with the added cost. As far as maintenance goes, I seem to be in there about once a month anyway (once the thing is working as I like), so I don't really feel "the need".

I'm dumb and I break a lot of stuff trying to squeeze out MPH that my scoots don't wanna do. Toughness is one of the HUGE selling points on sliders to me. I've seen so many CVT failures and so far I have yet to ruin one set of sliders. I have put little nicks in some, but they work fine. I sure can't say the same for rollers. I've flat spotted and basically destroyed quite a few sets. Even though I'm in the CVT a lot, I still don't wanna shell out money for new rollers.

If rollers will hold the revs constant till the CVT runs out of gear, I can see no reason to change except for the longevity Brent mentions above. I know a few people from the Euro scooter tuning scene, they don't use sliders either.

The overrange kit with the big deep vari dont like sliders at all that 2strokd mentions-- What is that exactly? Cuz it sounds like something ive been considering to upgrade to myself. Is it something like the performance vari that scrappydawg sells w/ the 5g sliders? Im also trying to decide if I wanna give sliders a try, or buy a tuning pack of rollers and try different combinations.
