Shit I drive a 93 Roadmaster and that thing dont eat that much gas. Maybe 14 mpg or so lol! Yeah I used to get between 14-16 mpg, until that frickin' 10% Ethanol shit came out, now I get 8-10mpg. So much for saving the environment when you have to burn more of the shit to go the same distance. I hate Ethanol!!!

Well I worked on it today and changed the CDI. But still no start, completely dead, no power. I'm leaning toward the brake switch. I tried to jump across the post on the solenoid and still nothing. The weird thing is that the turn signals don't work when the switch is on, which they have always done. That doesn't sound like the brake switch too me, but I don't know whats all in that circuit. So I'm still troubleshooting it, at least it's inside where I can work on it at my leisure.

Yeah it's a brand new coil and new plug. I did try my old coil on it just to make sure mine wasn't defective though.

Okay finally got too work on the Scoot last night and made a strange discovery. Since I have had absolutely no power with the switch on (no brake lights, turn signals, gas gauge needle doesn't move) I had been leaning towards a bad ground, or broke wire somewhere (or a bad switch). So on Saturday I clipped the old ring terminal off the ground wire and replaced it with a good heavy duty insulated one. After this I still had the same issue, and when I checked the battery after being on the maintainer all night it showed 12.53 volts. So to make a long story short I was stumped at the time and put it back on the charger. It was a little while later that as I was walking buy I turned the switch on to check the battery with a power drain. So lo and behold the turn signals, brake light, and horn all work as long as it's on the charger! As soon as you take it off the charger nothing works again! So I am assuming I must have a short or something in that battery. I was thinking I should pull the battery out of the car and see if it will start with the car battery. That should confirm bad battery right? I need some extra thinkers on this on. Does it sound like I'm on the right track? Anybody out there got any other suggestions for me check out before I try to get this Battery replaced tomorrow? Also I might add its been inside all week out of the cold, so it's not the cold messing with the Battery.

If the charger was hooked to the battery, that's basically the same as trying a different battery. If the charger was hooked up with the negative side to the frame, try hooking it to the battery negative. If it has power with the charger on the frame and not on the battery, you need to look farther into grounding issues.

No it has power when its hooked up to just the battery not the frame. So I guess it has to be the battery no matter what the voltage says on the multimeter. (Its a $3.99 multimeter from Harbor Freight it might not be entirely accurate.)

Went to Batteries Plus today and got my battery replaced. Scooter is fixed! Hallelujah! Now it just needs too warm up a bit, since I don't really have any cold weather gear.

I'm guessing some kind of short internally or something like that. After being on the maintainer all day & night on Sunday it would only show 12.53 volts, but would go down to 10.58 in a matter of seconds.

You got it straight just in time for record cold temps in FL. I gotta be honest though, it's hard to feel sorry for you guys getting like a week of freezing temps at night. It's low 30's for daytime highs here for months out of the year (not that I have it the worst either, at least there are only inches of snow outside).
