here is what i did to find an air leak. maybe this will help. get a rubber stopper with a with a hole in it from the homebrew shop. the hole is for an airlock but were not making beer. take off your carb and put the stopper in. spray your whole outside of the intake assembly with soapy water. either use an air compressor with really low pressure (which isnt as good as) or put your mouth over it and blow. look for bubbles. when you blow, youll know if its air tight, thats why blowing is better. the air compressor will just really make it bubble. what i found is that the clocking flange is too big and butts up against the head and wont sit flush. shown in this pic, the shiny line on the head is where it got snagged: file that edge to a 45 degree angle and itll sit flat. rtv black all the linkage together. that fixed my leak... same thing that your experiencing. the clocking flange bumping, i found out later, is a known issue, except to me. mayne thatll help. my air screw didn't so shit and it ran like crap until i did this.
