Hello, I'm a Ruckus owner living in Greensboro, NC and have been riding scooters for almost 20 years. Hope to make some new friends and/or riding buddies. Keep it upright.

Welcome on board Now I have to ask you guys. Here in Germany all of us want the Ruckus (Zoomer here) with that 50cc EFI engine and people are paying ridiculous amounts of money for it. I`m talking about around 2300,- USD for a Ruckus with 25.000km on it... So I wanna know why most people in the US convert that masterpiece of engineering to a chinese 150cc GY6 or so? And why are all Ruckus over there stretched?

Welcome on board Now I have to ask you guys. Here in Germany all of us want the Ruckus (Zoomer here) with that 50cc EFI engine and people are paying ridiculous amounts of money for it. I`m talking about around 2300,- USD for a Ruckus with 25.000km on it... So I wanna know why most people in the US convert that masterpiece of engineering to a chinese 150cc GY6 or so? And why are all Ruckus over there stretched? We don't GET the EFI model over here in the States for some reason, but the Ruckus/Zoomer holds it price because of the Honda badge and the quality associated with Honda products.
Chinese scooters and parts are readily available here, and a whole lot cheaper too. The GET engine is a great motor and has excellent gas mileage but it is slow. Honda could have put the Elite 110 engine on the Ruckus but they wanted to compete in the 50cc moped class.(They could've put a 2T in there.)
We replace that masterpiece of engineering to a 150cc GY6 so we can cruise at higher speeds(55-70mph), accelerate from traffic lights without a push, and when the engine dies it can be replaced for $240 instead of $500 or higher for a Honda engine. There are people that put 150cc-250cc Honda engines on their Rucks to keep it all Honda, but that involves TY-Dean Customs know how lol. I still own a GET engined Ruckus that will only be modded for looks(Stretch, fatty wheel, lowered seat, handlebars) or turned into a Met/Ruck.
As for why we stretch them, simple, it looks cool.
