I thought it was funny when I got my Stella the amount of respect went WAY up.

Full body 50cc, people laughed at me - even found myself on the local sport bike Facebook page laughing at me
Made the 50cc faster, then naked, gained 1% respect due to the weirdness of it. Bikers actually were interested until I told them the origin of the "build".

I wave at all riders, and just last month got the most awesome mean-mug from an old lady biker I've ever had in my life. Not one of the 8 riders waved, and her in the back just glaring at me shaking her head. Now, I'm inclined to give the biggest Pee Wee Herman smile and wave I can at every biker group I see...haha!

My naked scoot does seem to get the most interest and respect. Kinda like dex said, I think some have no idea what it is. Actually, the morning of the day I wrecked it I had a guy come look it over top to bottom while I was pumping gas. He asked what it started as and I told him a cheap Chinese scooter. Didn't deter his interest. He said. "kinda neat that you turned it into a cafe racer". I've had stuff like that a bit on T2. I'd imagine the custom Metro/Ruck guys get the most compliments becasue some of them are really slick. I've had people on motorcycles tell me that my 2T sounded mean when I was using the old style Peace Pipe. Never really had much interest on plain scoots aside from the random comment about how good the mileage must be on occasion.

Get mostly positive vibes here from people when I'm on the scoot. Couple of snoots or ignorant rednecks here and there, even better IMO. One of the managers at work (12 mile one-way commute) said something like, man I can't believe you ride that thing into work, and another, you get on the road with all those other dipshits? There are a number of gear heads where I work, but basically all car guys. I will say though, I love seeing other scooters on the road. There's not a lot of them around here, and hence likely not a lot of stupid attitudes about them. My niece who lives down south thinks it's funny and pokes a little fun at me from time to time, like going "meeeep meeeep!" Of course I have to man-up and say I got one of the fastest scooters out there haha

Katt, L.A. is the most superficial place in America, if not the world. Almost everything there is fake, including breasts, butts, lips, hips, hair, nails, tans, teeth, and the Kardashians. Who cares what they think of you and your scooter. Some people just need to put others down to feel good about themselves. So if you think about it, you are actually spreading joy to empty souls. Keep it upright.
