Wow! just checked my bank balance as I was heading for the overdraft point and saw that I had a tax rebate . I have not had one of those since 1977 and then it was a £100 which wa a fair sum those days. I had just done my self assessment tax return online about a week ago and it said then I was due one. After asking around it seemed like you had to wait a few months to a year so forgot about it and was going to phone them tomorrow and talk to a human being rather than email. Hmmm what scooter do I need now

LOL, You might want to stuff that rebate in the mattress (in gold) if Brexit does not go well. You may be drafted to fight the European army next. I just 'vetoed' today and the polls look like it may be a wild night. Ahhhh, Poly-Ticks...

I have not had time to catch up on new's today but no doubt in morning would be endless commentary on the radio when heading to work. Come to think of it I lost the code on radio when renewed battery on car other day and gotta figure out when have time to remove it for serial number. Maybe that a good thing . Well some of the tax rebate is going on a used car for son and his wife as they slowly saving for one for the business which will save them delivery costs etc. So spoke to his grandmother ( my mum ) and we going to get between us a £400-500 car and what they saved can pay insurance on it. Nice little VW Lupo 1.1 across road with yrs mot on it in good nick will put it on the ramps tomorrow look closer.

I will need my -not- rebate to pay my C-card bills. I just got hit with a $494 bill for my monthly prescriptions that is AFTER Medicare paid their 'share'. Next month will probably be worse because Rx costs go up WAY faster than inflation.

Wow FrankenMech and people complain over here if they have to pay for prescriptions from the NHS which I don't think happens much and not a lot either if you are low waged.

I don't know how I am going to pay the c-card bill AND next month's prescriptions... I don't like not paying the c-card bill in full due to freaking high interest. I have money saved to pay the ~$850 property tax due in December but where will the rest come from? The prescription bills will come every month and p-tax will hit again in March (oops, May). Somewhere along the line I will pass out of the 'medicare gap'. I used to be on a patient assistance program for $319 of that Victoza bill but that ended when medicare started.

Ask your Drs' and pharmacists business office what Medicare supplements help their patients the most. It's time to take the time to do a detailed (yes, there will be pain) evaluation of your required drugs as to what coverage you now have and what new supplement plans will do for you. The magic word is "formulary". That is a complex sounding word that insurers use knowing that 10% to 20% of people will get glassy eyed at that point and believe whatever they are told. It actually is their list of drugs approved for payments on a particular plan. When the comparison lists get you cross-eyed, just walk away for a bit. Keep your eyes on the prize! Getting through this is the closest we can get to beating the bastards.

I have already done a 'formulary' study with a medicare financial advisor and my current CVS plan was the best long term plan. He had software that took my medication list and ran it through the major formulary and rate setups. Nobody seems to fully cover the $319/mo Victoza stuff I inject for diabetes that is made in Denmark. My meds were actually much cheaper (~$75/mo) BEFORE I had medicare. Metformin is deadly poison for me, it damn near killed me and devastated about 20 years of my life. Insulin does not work either so I take Invokana @ $100/month (which has it's own problems) and other oral diabetic meds. I quit taking the metformin in 2015 and I am slowly, ever so slowly, recovering. I had lost much of my hair and what was left turned white. The hair is coming back in dark and the white stuff is turning dark or gray. It is somewhat like going through puberty again though...
