Hello everyone, I purchased my first 49cc a couple days ago. It's a 2017 wolf rx50. I've worked on motorcycles before so I have some experience with working on engines and carburetors, but I've never worked on scooters before so I'm hoping to take this chance to learn. For now I'm just looking for general advise on where to start working on this scooter. I'd like to do inexpensive modifications to start with and work my way up from there. What would you start with? As far as I can tell the scooter is completely stock. As of right now it only has 426 miles/kilometers. Thanks in advance.

A 72cc/47mm big bore kit can be pretty inexpensive and the best bang for the buck mod for these IMO. It's a more involved process than you may want to get into at first though, because it will not only involve engine work but also carburetor and CVT tuning to get it right. Some don't want to go with a BBK because technically anything over 50cc is not legal in many areas. Making sure the carb and CVT are clean and in tune is a good place to start learning. www.youtube.com/watch?v=K5j8gHg5kMc

But I think I may do something like that a little ways down the road. I'm going to make sure everything is in tune like you suggested. For some reason I can't find a lot of information on the wolf rx50. Do you know what kind of speed limiter it has? If it's just a rev limiter I'm not too worried about it, but I've heard of some being in and transmission and actually being bad for the scooter overall. Or maybe it has some simple exhaust or intake limiter that can be removed. Thanks in advance.

Many scoots have no restrictions, but people think they must because they don't realize how limiting 49cc actually is for power. If it can cruise 30-35MPH, it's probably not restricted.

Keeping it running reliably is the first order of business. Find a service manual and study...
