I managed to get it off by unscrewing the nut behind it , which pushed it off. It’s just the kickstart gear, the parts catalog shows it

Once you have the exhaust issue sorted let's see how it goes, the CVT does not affect the compression, you might get some bolts for it from a hardware store,I,m puzzled about the kick start post some pics before you start cutting!!!. Geoff The exhaust being tightened down quieted it down and made it run a lot smoother, but it still dies after about a minute of running, then starts right back up after I let it sit for a few minutes, rinse and repeat... I can hear a sort of hissing noise that is really faint and impossible to locate with my ears... but any tips on how to find air leaks would be appreciated. I think it’s also worth mentioning that the air box was fused onto the old carb and had to be cut off to remove it to install the new one... so I bought a small clamp on filter from amazon.

If you have one of those open foam cone filters, you will need to increase the fuel mixture. This could also be the noise, as they are quite loud. You could try putting a small piece of hose pipe to your ear. You can use this like a hillbilly stethoscope. Have you tried running it with the petrol cap undone? If there is a pressure lock in the fuel system, sometimes you get a hissing noise.

One way to check for air leaks is to spray easy start fluid in the suspect areas while it,s ticking over if it speeds up when sprayed bingo there's your leak, but go easy with that stuff.the pod filter won,t help you tune the bike we if you find a standard air box for it.

Geoff I was gonna try that, but the thing doesn’t stay running long enough haha. I’ve decided to put this scooter to the side for a bit and work on my current main ride, a motorized bike. I’ve been busy working on the tgb, and not maintaining my motorized bike, so I ended up getting a me top end, and have decided to wait till I have enough saved to be able to buy all the parts I need for everything and still have some leftover. And right now, I’m thinking a wise choice may be to try to find a scrap r50x to use. It might be cheaper in the end.
