Went over the garage today to see about some new tyres as they down to the wear bars , still got life in them. I asked the mechanic for some better makes that last longer as I thought not been on long. He checked his computor when I last had them fitted. Turns out it was 15 months ago, then checked back on the mot see what mileage done at approx. Turns out I have done 20,000 miles on them. Not bad for the driven wheels so I reckons I stick with the same make

Wow! How do they (whatever they are) do in the wet? I'm concerned that the bottom of the y (tyres), hanging down as it does, will reduce traction.

Ah! I finally figured it out,,,the tires you use in England are either made of wood or rock,,, Just to confuse the issue more these tyres are welsh where they are spelt teirs. I actually went back to the garage today as thought must have figures wrong but he checked again and it is somewhere between 17,000 and 23,000 miles. So this time he has marked down the mileage on his computer so we will have a more accurate figure at next tyre change. Oh and they made of rubber 😝

The pilot must be riding 5 mph ,,,on any of my sport bike I'm cording rears at 1100,,so it's like a win when I get 4000 out of a scooter tire,,,altho I'm running Full Bore brand on my dr350 and they're about half done at 6500-7000 so I'm well pleased with them and with the matched tubes they required no balancing,,1st time in my life,,needless to say I'll be running them again

Stock rim covers on stock Chinese scoots do cause teirs.

If I read his post correctly he is talking about CAR tires. 20,000 miles is ~OK but not good. Front wheel drive vehicle tires have both turning and drive wear combined. Those Welsh 'mountains' may contribute to lower mileage.
Beautiful country though.

Yeah my bad,,,I thought it was 2 wheeled tires,,in that case that's not good at all,,,I'd be hopping mad if I only got 20,000 out of a set of car/truck tires

Asphalt, cobblestone , concrete roads are different depending on your location in a country or the world for that matter ! In Vegas where i am we never get rain so we have some of the slickest streets in the US but the tire wear is long because the roads are smooth for the most part . It's is nothing to buy a 40th mile set of tires here and have the sidewall rot out in 30th be for the tread does .. 49 cc scooter tires need replacing once a year around here !

UV is tough on rubber. Types of aggregate used in/for road surfaces can also contribute to tire wear. Gravel roads are hell on tires.
Scoot tires are soft rubber without a lot of carbon black. The most common use (70%) of carbon black is as a pigment and reinforcing phase in automobile tires. Carbon black also helps conduct heat away from the tread and belt area of the tire, reducing thermal damage and increasing tire life. About 20% of world production goes into belts, hoses, and other non-tire rubber goods. It also absorbs ultraviolet radiation and provides wear resistance.
