I just bought a 2017 Prescott 50i, with about 3300 miles on it. Not bad for a Chinese scooter and the price I got it for I suppose. But every time I stop at a light my scooter cuts off and I end up getting beeped at while I’m starting it back up. So I took a screw driver and adjusted the idle on my carb. But now I’ve noticed when I’m going full throttle my RPM needle is buried at 10,000 RPMs. But I believe my speedometer is off so I thought that gauge could very well be off too. It’s doing much better at not cutting off at lights now, though it still did it once on my way home. I don’t even know what’s a safe RPM for full speed on a scooter, this is my first one. I don’t wanna harm it though, any tips or recommendations please???

Idle screw adjustment should not impact your high speed RPMs. It's just a low limit of throttle position. I'm not familiar with that scooter, though, so maybe someone else has different info - ie if there's something electronic, etc - which is doubtful.
Is it possible that you adjusted the air fuel mix screw? That could potentially help out a rough idle situation, and I believe would also have an impact throughout the rev range

I’m trying to figure out how to post a picture of the screw I adjusted. But I’m almost positive it’s the one for the idle. So I’m thinking maybe my RPM gauge is just off? Cause it doesn’t sound bad but when I saw the needle was buried I thought it didn’t seem right and could be harmful. When it’s idling it sits at about 2000 though.

Well about 3000, then goes down to 2000 after it warms up.

If thats a 139qmb , thats about normal , when cold the auto enricher /choke will rev hi , then drops to 1800-2000 ish. As long as scoot isnt trying to creep forward when brakes are released you should be ok. Thats just my 2 cents worth.

After my enricher delete, my idle is rock solid it does not fluctuate and it never wants to die out

So it shouldn’t creep forward when I let off the break? Cause it does, slightly. What about the RPM gauge reading 10,000 RPMs at nearly full throttle? It doesn’t sound bad so possibly just a faulty gauge?

Stick the scooter on the double stand fire it up let it warm up or the motor is hot to touch , then let it idle grab the rear brake and stop the wheel if you release the brake and the wheel starts pulling lower the idle till it stop doing that just repeat the steps till you get it . Creeping scooters at idle will kill belts

Well I was just going about 35 mph down the road and my scooter stopped accelerating. It was still running so I coasted to a stop and then parked it. I’m not really mechanically inclined with these things but I’m guessing drive belt? I literally just bought a tag and registration today as well. Any advice?
