Diabetic here... when the blood sugar is low, you start to lose focus. Would recommend food low in carb but very filling. Jimmy John's Unwhich and a pickle can get you through most of the day with no hunger. Avoid anything carbonated or sugar free. Natural juice is best for added carb energy. Try an orange or banana.

Spam was a childhood staple for us in Hawaii. A lot of visitors are grossed out that we eat spam here. McDonald's here has 2 breakfast platters, 2 scoops of white rice, scrambled eggs, and 2 slices of spam. We eat spam musubi (rice ball topped with a slice of spam, wrapped with a strip of nori) here. We fry slices in a pan to brown and crisp the sides. We make a shoyu (soy sauce) glaze by mixing shoyu and sugar 1:1. Once the second side is browned, we pour the shoyu glaze into the pan, let it boil and bubble for about a minute (to caramelize the sugar)and the turn off the heat. "Uncooked" spam (right out of the can) is gross though.

I eat loads of fresh vegs lightly blanched (the filling portion of my plate), rice or homemade wholegrains (a light side for complex carbs), and clean meats from the butchery (smaller portion). I snack throughout the day on fruit and nuts (high vitamin/antiox plus sustainable protein). I've been drinking loads of water through the day, and a glass of milk at supper. The goal is to stick with the foods as whole as possible from the earth with very minimal processing and prepared as simply as can be. I've been eating like this now for nearly 6 months and it's been such a life changer. I've never felt healthier, my energy sustains solidly through an intensely physical workweek, and i even sleep better during my 6 hours down. Even my monthly food bill has sharply decreased, i'm not buying tons of unsatisfying processed foods that don't sustain me, and makes me feel like garbage afterwards.
To be honest, i dont even miss fast food, pizza, candies, and all that other junk. I've found ways to fill that void and now even looking at that stuff makes me nauseated lol
The only downside is - theres a serious lack of date nights out of the house because of our new food lifestyle lol
