Riding home this week, every day it has been between -3°c to -6°c. Feels positively balmy to where you are.

I've rode as cold as near 0F before. Many times in the teens, but I don't think I've rode more than 1.5-2 hours straight in the upper teens and it's always just "for fun" for me. By the time it's in the teens the moisture from my breath freezes on the visor in some helmets. I've had a layer of frost covering my helmet when I came home. Real cold riding hurts like hell; at least with the gear I have... and seems to hurt more and more as I get older. Can't imagine -30F. Salt quits working to keep ice off of the roads around 10F I think.
EDIT : Just for fun...
At -30F it would feel like -66.6F at 30MPH and -73.7F at 50MPH.

That's white knuckle time. I don't even know what's worse, uphill or downhill. Do they let you call in and take the day off over there?

I could take day off but no work no pay and it's a lean time of year, but use to live up in the French Alps when younger and only had motorbike liecence so got use to driving in bad conditions. I find its people with 4x4 with road tyres on that have none or little experience and think they can go anywhere sliding towards me that worry me more and the look of suprise on there face that it's not going where they pointed it. Plus if to bad just turn round and head home.

So no one is LOLing that snaker and tortoise2 have the same thermometers? Ha, just had to say something. My new Polini variator kit was delivered, blown off the porch, and sitting in the snow when I got home. After taking it out of the box, it was so cold that water was condensing and freezing on it for like 10 minutes after I unwrapped it, even with gentle handling. It's about 0F here. Got the fire stoked, feels so nice.
