Howdy all! Not a new scoot owner (previously owned a CF Moto V5) but brand new 49cc owner. Today a guy gave me a Alpha Sports 49cc 2-stroke scooter. Looks complete. Where would I find the actual Chinese maker for the engine components so I know what to order if I need stuff? The tank needs a cleaning obviously. The carb is still on the bike but the air box and other things are off. I think most of the hardware is in a box. Anyway, gonna tear into it next week. Was going to order a battery and carb as those are usually bad when sitting for a few years. As I have more Q’s I’ll post over in the other section. Phil

Howdy all! Not a new scoot owner... I hate to be the one to break it to ya: If you are a repeat scoot owner, especially these modern Chi-Com makes, you have progressed beyond the point of help. The chief function of these sites are to relate (brag) the few successes, and commiserate the overwhelming majority of failures
But seriously, the Manufacturers Certificate of Origin (MCO) is the best place to find the real brand name of your machine. I only have one MCO:
Taizhou Chuanl Motorcycle Manufacturing Co. LTD. US Distributor: Empire Auto Group LLC 60 Asbury Road Hackenstown, NJ 07840
I know it's a long shot that this is the make of your bike. Maybe other members will post the info from their MCO.

That may be in the paperwork. It has a good title which is rather crazy. Looking like it’s probably 1E40qmb. But I’ll know more after I pull the engine off the body. Been reviewing the neat oil injection system on it. Reminds me of the oil injection on my Harley (Aermacchi) Sprint.
This scooter if I can get it running goes to Richmond VA to a homeless veteran. Long story but the dude needs it much more than I do. If it works out for him great. I just like messing about with things.

Post pics so we can see the engine and someone can prob tell you what you have, or find the code on the engine. A quick google image search showed some Alpha Sports scoots with the Minarelli style CVT cover. 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/2359/identifying-engineWith the Chinese stuff, just figuring out the engine type and body style tends to be the most important. Most Chinese brands aren't like Honda or Yamaha where you go to a dealer to get parts or online via parts diagrams.

I admire what you are doing fixing a scooter for a someone that is in need can use. I'm sure it will have an impact on their life. You have given me inspiration to try and do the same. I have a number of scooters that could use repairing that could then go off to someone that could use them to improve their lives. Like you I like wrenching on them as much as riding them. Please keep us posted on this. As Brent said its probably a Minarelli engine and parts are readily available.

And the MCO will say "Certificate of Origin" on the very top and MAY look like a state title with the scroll-work and spider webs around the border.

I’m located in Elkins WV. Several hours from Richmond - but a friend who has moved out there is rounding up stuff for this guy. He’s living in a tent behind a shopping mall.

Boy, I have loads of stuff I can pass on to a worthy chap. I'm sorry to say that I'm a little more than 2 hours up I-81 from West Ginny. Does anyone ever get anywhere near Scranton?
