Hi all, i've just joined this forum and thought it best to introduce myself. My name's Jason and i live in Norwich, Norfolk, UK. I own a 1978 Mobylette 50V which is mostly original and has only 3980 miles from new. This was last on the road in 1983 until i bought it last June from my uncle and returned it to roadworthy condition. Various items were repalced, refurbed as the years of inactivity saw pipes and seals etc just perish. At present it's off the road for the winter but next month it'll be back on the road. Below is a photo of it, the plan is just to keep it nice and ride it as much as possible........slowly In November last year i also bought a 2004 Yamaha Neos to use as my out and out daily, 9 owners, unknown mileage (new speedo) and reasonable condition. Even though it was cheap (£300) i can't help but tinker and make it nicer than when it was first bought. So far it's had new plug, lead, air filter, master cylinder and some plastic tidying. Next is to derestrict it and get it faster still (50mph, though am i dreaming ) I'm not a youth but it's just a fun bike that would be a good project.

Cavboy, welcome to the forum, that Moby's just the job for your rolling countryside.I am up in north west Wigan, and yes 50mph is a bit dreamy, you can get a usable 35\40mph out the neos with a few mods 50is possible but costly.I have a jog daily drive which keeps up with the traffic.if you start a build thread, read up in the tech sec and I am sure these nice folk will help out when needed, use the directory on the left of this screen to find stuff,
Geoff

9 owners on the Yamaha! That's pretty cool. How come UK license plates are so large? To help visibility?

Good to see more people from across the pond. Big plates for the video cameras.

How come UK license plates are so large? To help visibility? UK plates have always been that size though in 2001 when the layout was changed the font size got a tad smaller. In 1970 or there abouts reflective plates were brought in before they were just black with silver or white lettering. We're use to them, the many speed cameras we unfortunately have here uses them as well as the Police that have Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology in their vehicles.
