I'm going to be getting a retail/wholesale shop space soon, around 1000sqft. I'm gonna be using it to work on my bikes and sell/install mobile electronics, but i have the ability to do some scooter stuff too. But there seems to be quite a few players in that game already, and they seem to do a good job. So, if I were to sell scooter parts/accessories, what kind would you guys think I should sell? What do guys have a hard time finding? What should I offer that's not available now?

That really depends on the quality of the shops in your area and what kind of clientele you want to work with, and how much time you want to spend working on scooters and what kind of work you want to do. If you don't want to get bogged down rebuilding QMBs, you'll probably need to be very up front about that, because that's who's going to show up at your door in volume in the beginning... and they'll be looking for a deal.
I've learned over the years that if there is a good scooter business in the area, there are never enough quality shops but more than plenty subpar shops. The quality shops last, the others, not so much. Even if the shop has a poor reputation, if they've been open for a while, they probably aren't as bad as people make them out to be... or they have another angle, like they are very good at online parts sales or something, or they have working on inexpensive bikes like GY6 and QMB down to an art form and they can pump out the repairs.
My customers who do the most business with (and tend to have the fattest margins - them, not us) typically don't buy many performance parts. It's a majority of stock replacement stuff.
Oh, and tires. They sell and install crap tons of tires. So many tires. 1/3 of my warehouse is just for tires.

I'm not really looking to work on bikes, but I guess I would. Definitely not qmbs tho haha.
If anything, I was thinking more specific or specialty parts. Maybe rare stuff or cool stuff, maybe custom stuff, I dunno. It would be a side deal, so probably hobby level. I was hoping to come up with a couple of bolt-on stretch mounts for some bikes and maybe headlight upgrade kits. In fairly good at making stuff and I know the market would be slim but I can't really produce high levels of product anyway. If I only sell a few a year that would be cool.
I don't want to sell performance parts really. The market has lots of guy who do that already.

The scooter business is not easy , most markets are flooded with QMB 139 and 150 stuff . So Dio Kymco Minarelli stuff is slower moving .The repair aspect of the business is booming still lower end aftermarket parts do decent but the high end stuff sits on the shelf . You almost have to build all the stuff for 80% of them and hope they don't blow it up holding the throttle wide open for a 1/4 mile in the 110 heat. lol Yes that happened to one of my customers. I would take a serious look at the scooter market in your area be for i spent a dime on parts for anything , it's like here RUKS are almost extinct but 300 miles away it's all i see on the streets ! lol

I like the scoot tire idea, especially if you can mount them

Maybe I'll do a mail order mount and balance? Send me your wheel and I'll sell ya a tire mounted to it. I didn't have a lot of tire mounting options where I was from before, but I do now.

Got my first customer! He's got a zuma like mine but needs it checked out. Says it's slower now after a buddy rode it. Big surprise there... Lotta problems here... Oil lines removed for "premix swap" but nothing was capped off. So he had an air leak and he was blowing the remaining oil out of the pump all over his pipe haha. No retaining spring on the yasuni No premix. His buddy just put regular gas in it instead of 32:1. Also, NO CVT MODS. dude just holds the throttle wide open for about a block then just holds on haha. Checked the compression, it was about 110 psi, which makes sense cuz it started up but ran like crap riding it around the block. I'm guessing new rings, maybe new piston and bore. We'll see when I take off the head later on.

Just to back up the tires thing. I just got a Vee Rubber shipment: You could probably just do a brisk business selling and mounting tires. Matt
