I plastic welded my fairing using a 80 watt soldering iron and soda cap.i putting wire mesh behind it for support and strength. as you can see I was able to fill in the entire hole then I stand it to try to get it a smooth to the original surface.just was wondering is anybody ever tried this technique before and would it last?seems strong and able to flex with the fairing quite nicely.

Have t done this method I use a labs method liquid abs it’s a chemical reaction to weld abs type plastics Take some bits of the same type of abs and turn it into a liquid with methyl eythle keytone or some other solvent that will dissolve the bits Used ng only a wooden natural bristle paint brush artists type Brush the area to be repaired with straight men and the patch bit Now use the labs mixture to help join the bits and fill the cracks This is a very popular method in the rv world

I'm kinda jealous of the folks that can do plastic welding repairs like this. I have tried 2-3 times and I make more of a mess than anything.

Looks good. Thank you for making those videos for us. When I have tried this, I was definitely thinking things had to be melted way more than what you showed. If you're still looking for a free video editor, check out Shotcut. The posting part you're doing fine with using YouTube. I edited your posts and put all 3 vids together in 1 post in order. Thanks again!
