On opening 49ccscoot today, I found some words underlined in blue which then thanked me and offered me a gift, for just a small shipping cost. Sometimes opening a topic earns a window with the same crap. The first happening was thanking me for using ProBoards. How to make it go away?

Do a virus scan on your computer.I've never had that happen in a few years of frequent visits.

jackrides- if you have a windows pc, run windows defender. And re starting the pc might fix it.

Try malwarebytes, viruses are actually pretty uncommon these days, more then likely you have malware.

As others have said, try doing some scans of your computer. I have not had anyone else reporting this to me and I have not seen it either. As said, malwarebytes catches a lot of stuff and is free and there are plenty of free antivirus programs out there.

I finally found a label on some of the garbage "Packagetrak Promotions". It may have come from UPS.

Yes it did, Not. It is a "vampire" site looking like UPS. By vampire, I mean it cannot come into my home unless I invite it in. There are no prohibitions on its use of deception to accomplish that. Search (Google) on UPS. What comes up is: 1st: UPS.com | UPS Official Website [Ad]www.ups.com 2nd: UPS Package Tracking | Enter Your UPS Tracking Number DO NOT USE!! (My note) [Ad]www.easypackagetracker.org/UPS 3rd: Home|UPS-United States www.ups.com/us/en/Home.pageI went with the second one figuring a quick path to track my package. It wanted to add a Chrome extension. Which is where I 'invited' it in. Chrome extensions are usually easy to remove, I'll update later on. |

Yes it was easy to remove with no apparent aftereffects after one on/off cycle.
