Hello! This is my 2001 Honda Dio build! I got this and it was kind of half upgraded and in a broken down state, So I finished it off over the past year or so tinkering away on and off. By no ways do I know what I'm doing, Mainly reading a bunch of useful forums like this one so I figured I'd share I've just recently finished it and got it on the road feeling pretty comfy... But if anything sounds off with this build please chime in! I need all the advise I can get. As of right now I'm trying to go light on it since I'm still breaking in the cylinder but holy does this thing want to rev high, WOT it will go right up towards 11k rpm. sits around 8500ish in the mid range. I'm going to try to be as descriptive as I can here, Maybe that will help someone some day with tuning or whatnot, Here the details; Locale/Elevation: Toronto, ON / 76m above sea level Average operating temp: 25-30° C / 77-86° F EngineAF18E Cylinder/Piston: Naraku Aluminium 48mm 75cc JISO 48mm Cylinder Head: TWH Aluminum 48mm Spark Plug: BP8HS Crank: Not stock – not sure what make though, previous owner install PSI: 100psi Squish: 1.3mm 0.9 ExhaustGiannelli Limited Series 70cc (similar to the Arrow)

Have a few more aesthetic things I want to do in the near future But I really just want to make sure its running smoothly first. I even realized theres a bike shop in my city with a dyno, So I might eventually haul it over there, I'll see how I feel with what I can do on my own.
But anyways I'm looking at new rims, These ones are just those super cheapo aluminum ones, The rear drum is actually slightly oval so using the rear break is pretty funny. Next I want to try to eliminate the kickstart. I already ordered a new cover to modify so I can switch back to this kickstart cover if I end up not liking it.

Love it. How good does that air box silence the intake noise. I have the same one but haven’t installed it

Man nice build I have a Honda elite s I'm getting ready to build, how does the gianelli pipe perform, I was looking at getting one for my build was trying to see the differences in the arrow ver the gianelli the damn near look identical, I'll definitely be following your build From everything I can tell they're the same except people seem to rag on the Gianelli stating the arrow is better. All I know is that they're the same company so how different can they be.. The Arrow site literally links you to Gianelli, and the Gianelli site links you to Arrow. My opinion I'm impressed with the quality, Everything fit perfectly, I do wish it came with extra exhaust gaskets as the size is pretty oddball so it was a pain finding additional ones. Performance seems good so far but again I only have like 75km-ish on this build and I'm not going hard on it yet. But so far it pulls hard, the front wheel wants to leave the ground so I'm thinking it will be good. Love it. How good does that air box silence the intake noise. I have the same one but haven’t installed it It's loud as heck, I used to have the stock airbox / smaller carb on here and this is much louder. Could be the combo I have with the pipe, But dang everyone hears me driving around. The plastic is noticeably thinner than the stock airbox so I doubt that helps. But I'm happy enough with it, Keeps the rain water out, 2 secure points to attach it, and looks pretty nice. The last filter I had one was just a pod filter and it popped off and got ran over in traffic.. so that was a pain. The multiple ways to secure this one was the real selling point. I was surprised with how much I had to downjet, the pod filter I was running around a 115 main jet where as this I'm using an 88 now.

Was there any performance difference when you went to the cart airbox from the foam filter? Better mid-range power or mpg? I'm thinking of getting a similar box and that main jet size is pretty intriguing. The 40 pj seems big tho.

Yeah I was definitely getting worried when I was starting to go lower than 95ish it just seemed off. Seems hard to find build threads of people using airboxes though but I did manage to find one with a very similar set up to me (http://www.scootling.co.nz/bb/viewtopic.php?t=1311) They actually ended up running an even bigger pilot jet, So the OKO could just need a lot of idle juice. As for the performance difference I don't think I could honestly say, I didn't have the pod filter on there long and, And when I did my variator weights / clutch springs were all different than what they are now. It runs better now, But I think thats mostly just because it's tuned better now.

Okay, So now I have 150km on the cylinder. Still mostly taking it easy but I figured it would be fine to do a little WOT rip to see what the top speed might be like. Managed to hit 90km/h revving at about 10750-ish rpm. I have the warning light on my tach come on at 9k rpm right now, I think I'm going to have to change that as it seems like I'll be spending a lot more time in that range.
Overall pretty happy with how it's feeling! Probably gonna play around with the roller weights, But good to know the current top speed.
