That squish is ok Alot of sport kits out of the box are 1.5 ish
That would not be your heat problem. your engine and crankcase is sealed right by your leak test .
Jetting or exhaust gasket leak would be where i would dial in on next

Not perfect but as good as it gets without machining the head or risking the transfers not lining up at bdc

That is a noticeable improvement down .2 mm . Run it as is and see how you like it .
I used glass plate and sand paper to bring mine down farther

I did not adjust the combustion chamber . I have run no head gasket just copper spray often enough with the athena kit . That gets squish to about 1.25 to 1.3 If I wanted more I would just sand paper off a .1 mm or so with figure 8's on sand paper and glass.
The last athena install I had the head decked about.3 mm by a machine shop and then just cleaned up with sand paper down to .9 so i could run the best base gasket set up that let me max out the ports . When I was a Kid we were real scientific in our approach We would just keep decking the heads on the snowmobiles until they blew up . And then promised ourselves we wouldnt go that far the next time . I make smaller changes these days .
