I'm not 100% on this but I didn't re use mine , I just stocked up on them when I was doing engine/head/cylinder work . It seems to me ,when you compress them , then they're no good anymore . I have been told different things by different people when I asked the same question and this is the conclusion I came to . For me it's not worth doing all that work - tearing down , putting back together , to risk it being wrong or not running right because of a gasket leaking

I wouldn't Blue. It can probably be done, as long as there are no serious issues with it. By that I mean tears and such. But they are dirt cheap. You can probably clean it off with gas, let it dry, and spray a hi temp. cylinder head sealer on it. But why?

Yeah if your in a pinch you can use it as long as you haven't distorted it any . It's not recommended but will work just fine it's not like it's a 13.1 motor or it's water cooled or anything !

The outline is oxidation caused by dissimilar metal corrosion. It is embedded in the metal on an atomic scale. Use a new gasket.

Ive reused MLS (Multi Layer Steel) headgaskets on my 232cc gy6 that runs 13.4:1 compression on 108 octane race gas and havent had an issue with it.
For a rebuild I would replace it, but you dont HAVE to.

The only old head gasket we use to reuse decades ago was the solid copper ones if there was no damage by heating them up cherry red annealing its called. Once red it will be soft and malleable again dunk it in a bucket of water. Do this in ventilated area due to fumes given off when heating
