This happened two years ago in front of my shop .I was in the show room and i just happened to be looking out the window ,i see a guy on a yellow scooter coming our way with a car tailgating him super close . The scooter guys gets to the driveway and turns in the passenger in the car leans out the window and throws a water bottle at the scooter guy It hits the scooter guy in the throttle hand and he grabs a hand full and crashes right in the drive way the car rips off . I go out pick the dude up and he says that guys has been tailing me for a mile ! OMG they could have just drove around him they looked like two grown men in the car . It's crazy out here on a 50 4 stroke lol

I haven't really had much road rage aimed at me with any regularity for years. When I first started riding scooters, people used to actually cruise in a local town on Fri and Sat nights. I'd go over on the scooter when I didn't take my Mustang. It was pretty crazy. In my Mustang, people around town knew me and most that didn't know me well only knew me as "Satan". Nobody bothered me or messed with me when I was in the Mustang or just hanging out with friends in a parking lot or whatever. Then I go over on the scooter with a full face helmet on and I've got people yelling stuff at me, especially enjoying slurs that would accuse me of being homosexual. I even had kids whose moms prob dropped them off to the local coffee shop making fun of the scooter one night. It was crazy how all I had to do was change vehicles and be treated totally different.
I also had some cigarettes flicked at me. I had some clown run out in front of me while I was doing 25 or so in town and yell some crap. Part of me wanted to ram him so he'd understand that 500lbs of me and scooter at 25MPH are no joke, but I didn't really want to crash just to show him that he's stupid.
I always thought it was kinda funny, because they didn't realize how cool they weren't. I kept riding my scooter, regardless of what they said or did because I didn't give a damn. That's much cooler than chiming in with your buddies to mess with the one person that's doing something different IMO.
Everything is so different today. Now people might just think I'm too big for the scooter or wonder why I'd ride it or think the scooter is weird, but I don't get anything directed at me purely because of the scooter under normal circumstances. Maybe some comments here or there at a car show when crowds are all over the place, but not like it was even in towns near me in the mid 2000s.

I'm just curious, when I drive my mustang nobody on the road bats an eye, but when I'm on my scooter, nobody watches what they are doing. My father just bought a Harley Davidson roadster and about got into an accident because some fool didn't see him. I have been made fun of because I drive a scooter, IV been flipped off from going slow. I really don't care what people think, it takes me less than 50.00 a month to maintain my scooter. I do have a car but I'd wrather enjoy riding.

Ok... so here are my story’s regarding scooters.
in Texas, out in the ‘burbs where are I am, they got 60-65 mile speed limits. On a 50cc I was a sitting duck. You can’t ride in the bike lane so you have to ride that right hand line and stay in the lane. Lots of people in their 10 foot high pickup trucks, cranking Molly Hatchet buzz you with only an inch or so to spare.
So what do you do?
Well, I grew up in CA and we have a healthy disrespect for rednecks like that. We also learn how to split lanes.
So I bumped the scooter up to 171cc’s and tuned the transmission. The thing jams.
Now what happens is all those big dumb ass trucks end up sitting in a line of traffic at a light and I just ride my little, small, not wide, and fast scoot up the center stripes right to the light. I pass them all when they are sitting still. Then when the light is green I blow all of them off the line and make it to the next line of cars at the next line. Basically I lose the old pack and get a new one.
Every once in a while some jack ass gets pissed off that I’m going to be home before him. I’ll punch it off the line and someone will be on the line with me, upset that he made a poor judgement in transportation and perhaps a little jealous and try to race me. That ticks me off. Because I’ll get to the next line of cars and loose that person in the split.
But I’ll be god damned if some jerk in a big truck is going to threaten my life just because he has to sit in traffic.
Sometimes I think I should have a hammer on the bike to knock off mirrors for jerks like that... or ball bearings to drop and bounce up and smack them in the windshield. But, after careful review, my best action is just being home before them.
Kids, don’t do what I do. Or do what I do.

As for my pony I treat her nice, mustangs have a tendency to be ridden hard. Treat a car right and she will treat you with many years of reliability.
