Nearer completion new tyre fitted what a pain some of these small tubeless tyres are. Ratchet strap would not work so tried easy start for the first time ever. Viola! All bolted in and bits put on ready to fire up tomorrow sometime after work then put seat back on to road test it

Today put the exhaust on properly, manifold gasket had fallen off and then new rear shock, still sputters like mad and wants to die above half throttle. Must check carb as it was a random one which even appearing new might have been knackered.

Fitted the new rectifier and rear lamp today and no damn spark now. Was still running after rectifier started smoking the other day till I actually turned it off. These things are sent to try us and a few choice words as well. Oh well back in the corner it goes tomorrow unless something springs to mind

I went into my little shed of horror's today and found my de icer and scraper which was a start then a new spare cdi and coil with lead subsituted those and no spark. Changed out the starter off the old engine which was fine and now spark. But no start. Out with the easy start tomorrow.

Today I tried kicking it over but got quite a strong kick back from it for a 80cc. I shall check timing tomorrow as I did not use the original flywheel but an old one from the other engine.

TODAY IS OOP'S Well after substituting cdi, coil, plug putting a new rectifier on and stator from old engine I still having a spark changing carbs and still not starting after fitting jump battery to it and starter no turning I discovered the fault as I was looking at bendix when took belt cover off and about to remove starter after walking away for a day previously. I did not have earth wire from frame to engine. Not my fault everybody else's . On the old engine earth and battery wires run differently so I bypassed the old heavy duty cables with others. I have now rectified the problem. I think how many hours of stress I could have saved myself and the burning out of the rectifier was prob caused by no earth lead as well The scooter runs took it for a half mile spin but to cold with no crash helmet and rain, plus the big jam sandwich has started patroling at the time I was out on the country lanes. Don't need to be done by officer Dibble standing upright citizen I am nowadays. Tomorrow the scooter goes for mot and then a final carb tune

Bit snowy this morning and temp at 32f but mot due so onwards. It passed and then off for coffee and soup and roll in town. Little bit of splutter and wanting to conk out at about third tothree quarter throttle but if you pumped the throttle and got it to wide open it held fine till slowing down again and same procedure needed. Pilot circuit fine ish till ast thirdway could do with mixer adjusting but dont see that affecting after thirdway. I shall start a custom build thread soon as its almost running perfect.
