anyone around the genesee county area? i see a few people here and there on scoots but im never on mine when i see them usually in somewhere. looking to find someone to ride with next year as its looking like the seasons about over.
i guess if nobody is around here ill have to just ride with some of the bigger bikes i see all the time. ives joked with a few of the guys i see around i just dont like going on the long rides they go for as these are a whole lot less durable.

So, that's New York, right?? I've had the scoot for probably 5 years now and have never met up with any scooter folk. I rode to Buffalo once to visit family. Rochester is not a bad ride from Syracuse. Been to Watkins Glen a few times. Heck we could probably rendezvous somewhere.

hey ann arbor is a little closer atleast. still a hike but a shorter one atleast. i have a friend that lives down in the highland area. it would be almost 2 hrs taking back roads down there but i could most likely load the scooter in the back of the truck and drop the tuck off at his place and ride down to where your at. it would be a much shorter drive that way and make a good excuse to hang out down there afterwards and see him. plus he likes riding it but hes scared of it and wants one so maybe itll give him the nudge he needs. is there anywhere interesting to ride around ann arbor? i havent been there in years.

Maybe we can work something out in the spring. I just bought a new scoot and have work to do on it before I have it on the road and mostly just ride to and from work during the winter months. Car is my primary source of transportation during winter really.

yeah i wouldnt recommend getting anything together this year as the good weather is most likely about done. but when it warms back up im deff interested. if all goes well this winter i plan on doing much work to my bike and hopefully swapping out the motor again. worst comes to worst its atleast still a blast as is and has most of the bugs worked out at this point. what all do you have that you need to do on your bike?

Just got an 08 Zuma and I’m putting in a new crank, seals, exhaust, 70cc kit, carb, reed valve, throttle cable, engine mount, doing some port/case work, and some other odds and ends.
What about you? What do you ride?

its technically a keeway but has about every part it shouldnt have had on it when i got it motor wise due to the previous owner. if your doing a crank try to get a solid not stuffer crank if possible. they usually are better balanced and much stronger for only a little more. id also recommend a larger reed block with some carbon reeds and some slightly longer trans gears. youll have much better cruising speeds that way and will be able to put the power you gain to much better use. plus if you ever make it racy later on you wont have to open the case again unless you want to. getting rid of that 10k rpm redline is the best thing you can do to these little 2t bikes.

I’m putting in a Polini 12mm Evolution HC full circle crankshaft, Stage6 Vforce3 reeds, but I’m holding off on taller gears for the moment. I want to get the setup dialed in a little and see what gears I want to go with. The 08 Zumas apparently already have fairly tall gears and this scoot was never derestricted before I got it, so I may use the current gears through the winter if they’re tolerable. Ideally want to be able to cruise comfortably around 55mph or so eventually, which will probably mean a set of gears.

whats the final drive ratio supposed to be on there? if your somewhere around a 12.5-13:1 ratio you should be able to cruise around there if you have a 12 or 13" rim and oversized rear tire without revving to the moon.

13.2:1 stock, but I'm planning on getting a set of 13/43 gears or 13/44, which would put me at 10.9:1 or 11.2:1, respectively. Kind of unsure which way I want to go, but I know 11:1 is the "magic number", so probably the 13/43 set. Stock Zuma wheels, so they're 10's with beefy tires.

ok so you have the small wheel one. i have a 10:1 ratio with the large wheels and its way too much gear but its w.e. id say in your case most likely go with the 11.2 or maybe a little higher. whats the top speed now around 10k rpms?
