The minnarelli builds on zuma forums 10,000 rpm plus was considered the caution zone and 11k and above was considered danger zone . Nobody lived at 12k rpms for long on the stock crank.

Zino,I started a thread here a few years back asking for documentation of cranks scattering, severing limbs, killing innocent bystanders when a stock crank was spun above the magic 10,000 rpm's..Nobody replied except 'so&so said it and they are experts!',,The weakest part of a 2stroke crank is the big end bearing cage,ALL eventually wear out,the good uns are machined/silverplated where as cheapies have stamped "W" shaped cages,,not a lot said in the crank ad's about cage construction that Ive seen..When they finally wipe out, they just grind themselves to a stop,I have boxes of smoked MX cranks of good original quality..Would love to see some real test data on crankshaft life!

190mech I hear ya Alot more variables that we could not allow for ,pre mix vs stock oil pump properly tuned carb etc. Nobody with any experience grenaded at 10-11 k simply because of rpms.
It was usually a new hot race pipe with race kit but cheaped out on carb tuning a temp gauge could have saved alot of trouble .

Dagnabbit. Left for work and didn't see a pretty blue ring around the mouth of the carburetor like I normally do... Weird too, is that it likes going WOT more... with the 26mm carb I can't go WOT when she's cold or I get weird noises coming from the carb/reed - like the reeds are fluttering or something. After a bit of riding I can then go WOT and she's good. Today after seeing this, I rode it like normal but didn't get any hiccups and just held WOT and she just pulled along. I think next I need to just find a nice screen to put over to keep big stuff from getting pulled in.

Are you not running a filter?

No filter at all. It's actually been running BETTER without that bell mouth. Sometimes at speed I'd get fluttering, or a hiccup, and I haven't experienced that at all without the bell mouth. Feel like I have better throttle response at top speeds, like WOT used to kinda bog unless I dropped back just enough and now I can just hammer WOT and pull hard. Weird.
I wanna make a little velocity stack screen type, only custom made because most won't fit between the carburetor and frame. I'll have to design a dome style screen and try to clamp that directly to the carb's mouth with a filter element over the screen... this should give me enough protection and enough surface area to flow enough air. I guess I'll have to show pics after I finish.

Holy cow I love Google... this is such a cheap and easy idea! I'll cut this screen out and wrap it over the mouth of the carb and band clamp it down. DONE.

190 finally someone on the same page as i on this no smoke crap oils ! My kid was racing goped yep skateboard with a motor lol nothing more than a 22.5 or 32 cc weed eater motor or 1/4 scale car motor . Here is the kicker when modified tuned they can produce 5, 6 hp and rev to 19 th yeah so crank bearings go boom no matter how good they say they are ! Probably built 6 motors all six let go in 30 days 3 practice sessions one race boom done All on new oils. Even when i set them up a bit rich on top Boom. After we went old school we pulled off a 3rd in the worlds that basically a 5 minute wide open race . Then i went old school 927 blendzall green label or Blendzall ultra the newest castor they have or on the synthetic side Repsol, and two they quit making cause the EPA said some kid drank them sheez parents . lol Manhattan oil from manhattan beach ca and Neo oil both ca oils Totally synthetic oils purpose designed by both companies for desert racing .. I totally believe the new oils are 50% of the issue with crank life at high RPM and of course balance and your riding style and tune

Never once did i kill a crank or bearing lol You are so right The only problems we would ever have with 2 strokes arctic cats we would lean out the carbs for max power and burn a hole in the piston on wide open runs. If we just left the carbs on the rich side from the factory they just ran forever ,We sold my grandfathers 2 stroke 1976 Arctic Cat Pantera after 30 years still running ,Just Minor maintenance over the years.

Stop that guys! You know that smoke WILL kill the entire planet!!(just kidding!!! ).The old Suzuki Posi-Force injection(later CCI) shot oil straight to the big end bearing leading to very long life engines..AHH,but we all must convert to 4pokes,firing every other stroke(1/2 the HP) and grow flowers out of the exhaust..End of rant!!

So, it happened. ): Cruising along looking for that "No Exit" sign for scoot tag, looking at the drive thru of Starbucks and this white SUV decided to turn directly in front of me. I couldn't stop at all, even with dual disc brakes, and smashed head on, flipped over the bars and slid up her hood to the windshield and did a barrel roll off breaking her side mirror in the process and landing on my back on the asphalt. This was the resting place... Maddy bounced off the bumper and did a couple spins, on the exhaust dangit, and blew apart her plastics. That is my biggest upset. These body panels are not available anymore... The lady driving the SUV apologized more times than I can remember. There was a fire fighter who just got off duty in the drive thru, saw everything, and called 911. State trooper showed up, and said that they don't write reports when it happens in parking lots - it's private property. I wasn't hurt one bit, just a scrape on my elbow and a bruise on my side from the mirror, so I just got her insurance info and the authorities left. The driver and I chatted about everything, and she asked how she can fix it. I told her how it'd be tough since it's discontinued and blah blah, so she offered 200 cash on the spot to help me with whatever. I took it. I won't be claiming anything with her insurance, no need for all that hassle and a possible low payout. What's done is done. And now this: I hate the way it looks, but she still drives fine. That's 2 collisions with vehicles now, and she's still zoomin' along. She seems slower too, dangit. Less aerodynamic maybe? I really wanna find a 150cc gy6 with 10" wheels and put this engine up in that frame. Ya know, smaller, lighter, more wheelieable haha idk I'm just really bummed about the whole thing and trying to keep my spirits up. Stay safe everyone.
