Yer fine. I've had less sealing surface all the way around the transfers when building 100cc stuff than the smallest cross-section that you have there. Absolutely no reason to go scrapping those cases and starting over.

Well... I did what I usually do in cases (pun intended) like these and made a pros/cons list and then just made my decision based off of that. I’m quite obsessive and between the corrosion, unusable center stand, and stuck bolts along with the other stuff, I just decided to purchase new cases for peace of mind. I’d really like a center stand I can mount and unmount for maintenance too. I’ve been on the fence about it this entire time anyway. I am probably buying a Zuma frame off a friend anyway and will use these cases for another more “hyper race” oriented build in the future. I have plenty to do on the frame and other parts until the new cases arrive anyway.

C'mon man. You should know I've been riding your coattails by now haha. I've used your post (super helpful) to gather what I think will be everything I need bearing wise. I basically just bought the set of 6 SKF transmission bearings that Scoot Tuning sells and some seals from Partzilla. From what I can tell, it's six bearings in total for the rear end. I was going to go with OEM, but couldn't find spec sheets for them and all the SKF bearings seem to exceed the tolerances necessary for our purposes, so I just picked up the ST set.

Since I’m shifting focus until the new cases and other parts arrive, here is my “to do” list to keep me occupied in the meantime. Should be plenty here. May not all make sense sense to you it’s my gibberish copied and pasted from my notes app. DO - [ ] Fuel lines/vacuum lines - [ ] Paint panels Dupli-color Granite Crystal LAU - [ ] CVT cover - [ ] Bluer/grey paint - [ ] Kydex bottom of seat - [ ] Reserve fuel tank - [ ] Check petcock - [ ] Fuel tank - [ ] Crankshaft - [ ] Throttle cable - [ ] Remove broken bolt - [ ] Lube cables - [ ] Remove oil pump - [ ] Reshape seat - [ ] Get rid of rust/protect - [ ] Brake fluid - [ ] Air filter hoses/block off - [ ] Change gear oil - [ ] Kydex seat bucket - [ ] Remove starter boss (while cases are apart). At least with new cases, you won't have the right pain in the job of removing the old deal from the variator side.

On my jog the centre stand has had a hard life and is due for renewal,it,s currently got a 10mm bolt to pivot on and this is loosened at the service and knocked forward and backwards to stop it seizing up,but I run cheap.if I had a shiny new case I,d drill and tap for a grease nipple and find a shackle pin to replace the standard soft pin.Just one for your to do list.

Geoff I was only ever planning on using the center stand as a temporary tool for when I'm working on it anyway. I'm going to install and uninstall before it ever gets on the road and reinstall for maintenance. I'll use the kickstand for day-to-day. So the old case with the pin stuck in it kind of made that impossible or at least much more difficult to do that with. Aside from the two week wait, I'm fine with my decision. Partzilla is cheap but not super quick on the shipping, but I get that they have to order some things. The peace of mind is worth it to me and I have plenty to keep myself occupied in the meantime. I'm excited to get this thing plugged in and to play with it. It has a multicolored backlit display, so I know I made a good buy.

From what I understand Koso makes pretty good stuff and the guys at Scooter Tuning like their stuff a lot. Hopefully our purchases work out for both of us.

Finally got around to finishing with as much painting and rust removal as I plan on doing with the frame for the time being. Might get it blasted and coated next year, but want to get back to the motor and everything else right now. The bodywork stuff is never as much fun for me. I've been really lazy do get this done, but I think getting back to motor building will motivate me. Also have a break from school until the 16th, but then my life is going to basically disappear until I graduate in August, so I need to get movin on this. I got most of the rust, but definitely could've done a better job. I got 90% of the major stuff by sanding, priming and painting. Was going to do a coat of clear, but the primer and black went on pretty thick, so I think I'll just leave it as is. Considering how half-assed of a job I did, it actually looks pretty decent. I forgot to take pics for much of it, but here are a few of the before, during, and after. Most of them are just for my reference of what goes where but you get the idea.

Oh and a quick question... when I’m matching the cases, is it important to match this circled area of the cases? I assume I do match it, but want to make sure before I start cutting my brand new cases.

i wouldnt worry too much about that area as its not a flow area you could maybe even it out some if one side is alot higher than the other but most of that area that isnt flow area ie the boost port and transfer port areas are there to line the cylinder up when installing it. if material is removed from those places the cylinders could sit angled slightly and wouldnt be in proper line with the crank so it could cause strange harmonics or self destruction time and time again. wouldnt want to shoot yourself in the foot with new cases and throw your money away ya know.

Well I'll probably start the cutting tonight or tomorrow. Just have to paint the gas tank and I'm calling the painting done.
