I haven't been keeping up this thread very well lately and I'll update things thoroughly soon, but as of right now, I have my bike assembled with the 80cc Athena kit.mI was trying to get everything ready, in somewhat of a rush, for a small bore rally happening in a couple days. Long and short is, my bike beat me. It has an issue I (and other very kind folks) cannot figure out. Here it is: youtu.be/orNwoRvdWIoI've tried everything and cannot locate it. I'm feeling extremely open to suggestions... When I get back from the rally, I'd love to have some fresh angles of attack to try out. Mush appreciated.

Have you had the cylinder kit off and looked it and the bottom end over? Nothing simple like some CVT/kickstart issue?

Have you had the cylinder kit off and looked it and the bottom end over? Nothing simple like some CVT/kickstart issue? I can pretty confidently say I've addressed all of that. I've had it apart a bunch of times now. The last time I had it apart specifically to take a look at the bottom of the piston and thought I'd seen where it'd been making contact, so I filed the edge of the piston skirt in that area...the video is after that. No change at all. I haven't run it with the belt off to isolate the CVT though. Someone else also mentioned putting the stock exhaust on to quiet it down and help me isolate the noise.

I hope it’s not in your case but I spent some time chasing my tail with a very Similar rattle on my bike before the rebuild it did turn out to be the stator side crank bearing youtube.com/shorts/sq1ucqAtsWY?feature=share

Crank bearing would be on the crappier side of outcomes though for sure. Haha

I was in the same situation with chasing a rattle for days I took everything of the engine that wasn’t needed for it to run any way as I said turned out to be a crank bearing 😒

Definitely could be the bearing, but I'm remaining hopeful.

Another clue... When I woke up this morning I had a message from 190mech noting the scuffing in the cylinder in some pics I'd sent him for something else. This is an engine with about 20 miles or less on it. The pics were to note wear on one of the ears as a possible point of contact, so the scuffing is a bit out of focus, sorry. In my state of delirium from trying to get this thing ready, I think I started missing stuff.

When I ran this kit briefly it had the same exact wear. I’ve still got one of the cylinders I’ll snap a picture of later.
