Ken In case your looking to another big Scootertuning order Boxing Day is typically there next big sale . Day after Christmas last year it was 15% off. I see your looking at going after a overrange ,I have looked at the stage6 ,malossi and the polini. I have used the sport malossi and sport polini on various scoots they are a Big upgrade overstock as far as acceleration and top end .I give tie breaker to the malossi . I have a vacation coming up and obviously the holiday, so I’ll probably hold off until I’m actually starting to get the scoot in tune to make the purchase. I thoroughly appreciate the heads up though! By the sport I assume you’re talking about the iron version of the Polini over range? I’d obviously be after whatever is going to give me the best of both worlds, so may have to reconsider my choices and do some more thorough research.

Normally you'd do as John said and try to get the transfer floors basically level with the edges of the piston crown at the bottom of the stroke. Then check durations. If all of that looks good, then check squish clearance. The head or cylinder deck can then be shaved a bit if needed. I have no experience with the Corsa, but I've used multiple Polini Sport kits and those were always fairly close out of the box.
If it's way off, then maybe check your part numbers again to make sure you have what you intended to get. I don't know if there is even a Corsa made for another stroke that fits these engines, but another possibility would be maybe the crank has a longer rod. Sometimes cranks come with different lengths of connnecting rods and a long rod would make the piston sit higher at BDC and in that case you should also see that the piston is high at TDC. In that instance, a spacer/gaskets should be able to get it all in check.

Ken since you have the corsa head and you are getting the Athena Sport.
Zuma Forum guys have taken the polini head with gasket to tighten up the squish on the Athena to below 1 mm .
You get plenty of bases gaskets to work with on the Athena but to get the squish real tight you may need to use copper spray to get it close to 1 mm .
So if you get stuck with the Corsa keep that in mind.

Dynoscooter said they will let me return the cylinder. Maybe I'll ask if I can keep the head though... So just to clear up any of my seeming negativity about Dynscooter, I talked to them and they said I can get a refund for the cylinder. Also talked to Eric at ST and he helped me verify that this is a Minarelli Corsa cylinder. The machining must just be way out of spec or something.

So I got the Athena head from Scooter Tuning and with a ~0.7mm paper base gasket and ~0.10mm shim I'll be lined up with the transfers nicely and at ~0.85-.95mm squish. This is with the Polini head though. With the Athena head, I'd be at 1.3mm squish, so I gotta give it up to Zino for the tip!. Thanks man! Things are lookin pretty good now. Super psyched. Was pretty bummed about that Polini debacle and was slightly worried the cylinder wasn't even my issue. Based on ryan_ott's measurements, looks like mine is 2mm off. Thanks for doing that by the way Ryan.

That polini head trick will make a big difference you should still be good with regular pump gas at .85 to .9 mm squish
Have fun with it .

11k rpms on my vino stock gears I would be close to 60 . 11k on my zuma with the 11 to 1 gears would have me past 60 . Does your 0 to 40 feel like your Jog or way slower .
Just trying to work through the chain of power . You should have a very Torquey setup with the athena with polini head You have a ton of Rpms but the real wheel is only pushing you to 50 . Just Screams you are losing in the Transmission.

Its the Quest for Speed . We always want to get just that next couple of MPH
I am trying to see how far I can Push a under 10 k rpm build So I am swapping On a Athena Sport on my Zuma right now . Paired with The Yasuni R . The Malossi Sport I am replacing was still going strong . It was topping out in that 9300-9500 range with a Tecnigas Next R The Athena single ring Will Rev just a little higher than that ported Malossi . I am not as lucky to have a Polini head laying around To get Squish below 1 So I have to deck the Head .

Your vote counts for two 190mech haha! Zino Quest for speed without a doubt. Also, the only performance pipe I've ever run is the Yasuni R. I've had three of them haha. I'd like to see how something different (and why not faster) feels. You'll have a very similar build to mine. Let's me know I've done something right lol. Your right I saw you building yours up . I have ran a Athena sport with a leo vince zx and loved it . I had already picked up the Yasuni R on Boxing Day sale at Scootertuning to pair with the Malossi sport , I was going to put the Athena on One of my Vinos . Changed my mind after you swapped the polini head on the Athena . So we will end up with similar builds . Until you go C16

I ran that briefly few years ago and used a C16 and it performed pretty good. The squish was too large with the supplied head so used a Polini head from a cast kit to get it close.

C16 was my first inclination. I had the same issue with the 70cc Athena kit and also used a Polini head to get the squish down to ~0.7mm I believe. I just remembered that I bought an extra Polini head "just in case" as well. Already ready to go for the 80cc!
