Zino,Matt,I do have a tach,it as an after market strap cheapy thing and I put on to test if req.I will find out a post the revs here.it has a stock carb upjetted to86 but remember I,m a gentle soul a have not pushed this set up. Geoff I think it's best if you ride your bike how you like, and mostly that you enjoy it. I do not wish to ask you to push it. Matt

Way to go Matt I like what your putting together. Upgraded rubber Carb upgrade Pipe Variator I am betting this group alone tuned right adds 4-5 mph .
How will you have to mod bracket for the exhaust ?

How will you have to mod bracket for the exhaust ? That would be a nice result on an otherwise stock engine. Not sure how I'm going to have to mod the bracket yet... this one may not need it, I know we tried to get a version of this pipe that just bolts up to a Zuma... Regardless, any changes I have to make I'll document. I haven't listed rollers or tuning parts yet since that will come after, but I plan to document the whole thing, and then if the results are good, create a package to offer on the page to make it easy for anyone looking for something similar for their Minarelli. And naturally I'll post the results, good or bad. That's just part of the fun. However, as I'm not really doing anything too intensive, I think we'll see only positive results. Also, I'm just looking forward to riding this thing. All Zumas are just fun bikes. Matt

Matt A simple build with results . Provides every new buider a leaping off point and then they get more serious .
I had a quite extensive build thread on ZumaForums starting bone stock and adding one part at a time and tuning it. Here are my summarized notes . I went from 38-39 to 43 mph top speed and much better acceleration with just up jetted stock carb to a 84 ,a malossi wild lion street pipe and variator . didnt really have to tune the trans much 1/2 gram lighter on rollers and one notch up to medium clutch springs
And then I had to put a malossi sport kit Acceleration went up alot top speed 45-46 mph . No trans tuning needed the overlap with the malossi pipe was spot on .
Then I changed pipes to Tecnigas Next R another 1/2 gram lighter on the rollers to 5.5 grams and harder clutch springs was a sweet spot . Top speed now at 48 mph
Then I swapped in gears to get me to a 11 to 1 ratio Top speed 54-55 mph .
Where I am going next to stimulate the economy . Better pipe Yasuni R ,Better Carb 19mm Dellorto ,Better Kit Still deciding.
Then i will probably talk myself into liquid cooled ,Overranges Etc.
I am a Scooter Addict and I know it and my wife loves me for it.

Just going to have to trust that butt dyno that nature gave us,have you thought about CVT belt dimensions I am sure Yamaha belts are a tadge slimmer than after market ones.

So, it turns out that the Naraku Traffic Minarelli exhaust WILL NOT mount to a Zuma.
Now we know, and it's why we do stuff like this. So change of plans, stay tuned...

Hey Matt, Why won't it fit(in technical terms)?Perhaps the gearheads here would consider a simple mod for fitment on their scoots.. Cheers, John

Cheers, John John, Naraku Traffic, unlike other minarelli pipes isn't easily moddable at the mounts to fit up to the Zuma's engine case. Could someone get it to work? Probably, but they'd most likely have to trim the Zuma engine's exhaust mounts by a half inch or so to get it to work, and for this bike that's not something that we want to do. Matt

Okay, so this kind of deviates from the original plan I had, but with the Naraku Traffic not fitting, we're installing Naraku's 70cc kit that honestly is crazy affordable at just over 70 bucks, and we're going to pair that with the Polini Team 3 pipe, which is a mild expansion chamber pipe made for mid range power on a street build. Pared to this is the Naraku 19mm PHBG carb on the stock airbox. We're still using the SSP-G variator and stock clutch. The lighter weight Vee tires are already installed and look great. We've also got some new SSP-G cables and a BanJing throttle tube to round out the package. The cables and tube may not be required, but the throttle was already buggered up on this bike.
It was just too tempting to not change out to a 70cc kit with the bike already stripped and ready to be worked on.
Anyway, that's the latest update. We should be able to get some performance reports, and build list up soon I hope.
Matt

I am on my 2nd Naraku Traffic and thought the not fitting was down to my lack of skill or bad cases, the first one I fabricated the exhaust mounting plate to suit and got around 5 years running out of it,the second I fitted last year to my commuter which has the bottom mount bolt hole drilled through and has some play to add,the top hole is about 5mm out of whack.I should alter the bracket but I have ran without the top bolt for nearly a year now. I understand why you can,t use it on this build. Geoff

Could you take a little farther back picture to see fitment as it bolts up to the case
