Hi, all!
I picked up my first scooter last week, an early 2000's TNG Venice 49cc. The body panels are in rough shape, and it doesn't run yet, but it's got under 300 Km on it. It was cheap, and I'm fairly mechanically inclined, so I figured it was a low enough risk to jump in.
So far, I've taken all the plastic off, and started troubleshooting the engine. I have no spark at the plug, but I do have voltage at the primary on the coil when trying to kick start, so a new coil is on the way.
I've been checking out the incredible information on this site for the last few days and it's giving me some confidence that I'll be able to get this thing on the road.

Phoenix, AZ . . early 2000's TNG Venice 49cc Not seeing operable pedals, so per Arizona DOT a motorcycle license is required. "What is the difference between a moped and a motor-driven cycle and what are the licensing requirements?
A moped is a bicycle or human-powered vehicle (with pedals) with a 50 cc or less helper motor, a 1.5 hp or less braking power and a rated maximum top speed of 25 mph (on a flat surface with less than a one per cent grade). Any class of driver license can be used to operate a moped. A moped must be registered, but a vehicle title is not issued. Emissions testing is not required. Vehicle liability insurance is required.
A motor-driven cycle is a motorcycle is originally manufactured to exceed 20 mph, is rated at 5 hp or less and has no more than three wheels in contact with the ground. This definition includes motor scooters rated at 5 hp or less. A motorcycle license or endorsement is needed to operate any motor-driven cycle. A motor-driven cycle must be both titled and registered. Emissions testing is not required. Vehicle liability insurance is required.
For purposes of this response, the term 5 hp generally refers to a motor with 49 cc to 80 cc displacement."Sell to one of the Phoenix cartel drug couriers, and replace with at least a 125cc that is more compatible with metro traffic.

The Venice is the cousin of my Pinkscoot and a clone to the Vino. They are okay scooters, careful with the plastics they are very brittle and have a specific order they need to come off. Brent had one of these that he worked on. Otherwise they are basic Chinese Minarelli engines. Engine parts are everywhere, body parts are specific to that model, it may look the same but they are different.

Thankfully, I didn't do any more damage removing than was already done when I got it. My plan is to repair reasonably well, and paint eventually. My priority now is getting it running. No spark. I've got voltage at the coil primary, but my multimeter is garbage, so I can't say how much. I'll get a new multimeter and do some more troubleshooting. If I can't get that sorted on my own, I'll likely start a new thread in Troubleshooting.

Anyone got a valid email for the Phoenix Drug Cartel? I tried info@PhoenixDrugCartel.org , but it keeps getting bounced back.
