Shipped the right one to me today. It was just a mixup - the tecnigas part # for each is very similar. I'll just send the next-r back then. Seems like a solid vendor to me.

They’re the best vendor I’ve ever dealt with as far as scooter parts goes. I’m sure they’ll take care of you. Weird that they sent the wrong pipe in the first place.

Don't have the pipe yet, but with the weights from the Athena kit it stays in the 6600rpm range. maxes around 7500rpm at 40mph (gps). I'll lower the weights before the next trial (and might have the Q-tre by then)

I put the new belt I bought on and tried with 7g sliders. Only topped at 34mph (gps) . tried with 9g sliders and it again topped at 34 but with lower acceleration rpms. Top speed was around 9500 rpms too for both.
It's a bando 737 x 18. (Or is supposed to be...??)
Is this just a new belt issue? Or did I buy a counterfeit belt (is that a thing?))? Or is it the wrong belt size? Or do I need to go back to regular rollers. The rollers that came with the athena speed variator are about 9g, maybe a little heavier.

Sometimes when you buy a new belt, it takes them a while to loosen up. The Kevlar ones seem to take about 100 miles. It's not uncommon to lose a little speed at first.

I second what aeroxbud said I Bought a new kevlar belt and My rpms stayed the same but my top speed was less .
The sharpie mark went up from less than 3mm to more than 6mm So I was never getting in Top Gear .
3 or 4 tanks of gas later I got my top end back.

Cool thanks for the info. That's more likely what I expected.
I did switch the old belt back in and ran with 7g sliders and it did about the same thing. So also going to say no sliders in this variator.

I'll have to check in a few weeks when I have time again, but kinda thinking I put the sliders in wrong... if so I'll blame it on being sick and too tired to think straight...😐😨

Finally got to it today. My neighborhood isn't plowed for regular snows, but snow melted last weekend. I didn't want to put it on and not be able to test it out right away!
The Q-tre fit's right and then i put 7g sliders on it (the right way). With 7g it stayed around 7200 rpm. Downhill went up to 50 on the speedo, which is probably 43mph or so. I put 6g sliders on it now and will try that later. I'm guessing a bit higher RPM would be desired for the pipe.

Do you have lighter sliders you might need to go as low as 5g to max out that pipe .
That Next R and Qtre have similar power bands mid 8s to low 9's is where I set the weights to hit.
With 5 grams I am just over 9k rpms and at 5.5 grams I am around 8700-8800 rpms with my set up .
I prefer to set them as low as possible for weight that still gives me the highest top speed that is the way I am on the upper end for acceleration .
