I finally took the disc brake equipped Venice for a test ride. Results were mixed. The biggest thing that threw me off was the new forks. They are longer and far more stiff than stock.
The front end felt ‘tippy’ and the front tire wanted to follow every imperfection in the road.
I think lowering the front end and decreasing the spring rates would help.
Has anyone messed with the internals of an NCY shock before?

The Venice still has disc brakes.
I swapped the bottom fork legs from my Spree so it now has Yamaha jog style NCY 26mm upper legs but with 12mm axle Honda disc brake style lower NCY legs.
I am running the same monkey wheel and monster 220mm front disc!
I also swapped in the hot rodded motor that I originally built for the spree swap. The spree frame is stripped and sitting on a shelf.
So now I have a 47mph Venice with monster brakes, NCY forks, and 10in slicks!
It’s shorter than the spree It’s got better ergonomics than the spree
It might make a better MiniGP machine than the spree. Pics to come.

Sorry for the lame pic. I'll get it outside this weekend to see it in the sun and run some fresh fuel through it.

I’ll weigh it this weekend too. I imagine it’ll be around 130lbs or so.

The TNG was purchased by the same guy that bought the Spree.
He is aware of this board and I encouraged him to create an account.

In an interesting series of events, the Half Naked Venice is back. The owner of the spree found a more street worthy Venice so I was happy to take the old one back.
I have a spare motor for it so future plans include: C16 Del 21 Malossi Sport Pro MKII
16mm variator NCY torque driver stronger contra spring strong clutch springs
Upgear kit
Slicks Big brake rotor kit NCY dual piston caliper
Basically, anything I need to do to keep up with the Spree!
I left out upgrade crank on purpose. I want to see how long the stock crank will last with the MKII cylinder.
Stay tuned!

Took the scoot out this morning. Here is the order of operations and results. Before anything, I removed the stock exhaust and threw on a no-name expansion pipe. The stock pipe sounds like a rainstick when you shake it. Steps: Removed fuel line going to carb. Removed vacuum line going from carb to fuel pump. I checked the pump by blowing on the vacuum line. Result: It did dump fuel out. Check the pump off the list. Steps: Put the fuel line on the carb and blew on the vacuum line. Unscrewed the bowl drain Result: Fuel came out. Steps: Dribbled fuel directly down the carb. Result: Ran good but died out. Steps: When the engine died out, I checked for spark. Result: Engine still has spark Steps: Pulled the carb, cleaned the jets again. Result: Actually ran long enough to take for a ride! I didn't stay in WOT since I'm certain that the pipe would lean it out. A few hours later. Last step: I put the stock pipe back on. Result: Barely sparked once. Double test: I just swapped the expansion pipe back on. Result: Same issue. It will just sputter and die out. If I give it any throttle, it will die even sooner. So, more air = needing more fuel which it isn't getting. hmm. I'll check the carb again but I seriously just cleaned it. I'll also check the Intake manifold for any cracks. them mikunis dude...made me get a polini CP with manual choke. I cleaned my mikuni THREE TIMES before it started to work properly. im talkin scrubbin the jets @9k rpm with brass wire, and leaving the qhole carb in a stream of parts cleaner for daysssss. also, what front forks swap out like that? I didn't know I could swap out to forks ):

I didn't know I could swap out to forks ): I have reviewed your build thread. I have reason to believe that your 'red dragon' is the same as the TNG Venice. This is great news. If you don't have a set of vernier calipers, go to harbor freight and get yourself some. Qualityscooterparts has pics showing the specs that you should be measuring for: qualityscooterparts.com/scooter-triple-tree-islander-fits-islander.htmlSwapping to a conventional telescoping fork is pretty straight forward but the costs do add up. I removed the stock stem and measured it up before anything else. Then I bought only the stem to make sure that it fit. Once I confirmed that the stem fits, then I pulled the trigger on the rest of the parts. You will have to reuse the stock lower bearing race from the original steering stem. You will need to get a washer between the race and the new stem, about a 1/16-1/8th of an inch. I'll add a pic to this post later. This is going to be a Jog clone now. Looks so good. I love the overkill twin pot. if you use vino fenders, you might find that your silencer from the exhaust bites into the fender. I might try to either fender swap mine, or do something with fiberglass. I really like the bare frame look.

Sorry for the lame pic. I'll get it outside this weekend to see it in the sun and run some fresh fuel through it. Do you think you could fit a 12 inch rim on that front stem?? maybe we could switch the rear gears for zuma gears for a rear 12 inch tire?
