Hi guys. Just recently did a clean off of my minarelli clone 70cc scoot with stock mikuni carb over new years. One thing I am having issues after cleaning is that i seem to have a hanging idle like it gets stuck and i would have to twist out the idle screw out A tiny bit to get back to normal idling @1500-1800rpm but will hang up again the moment i twist the throttle. It was idling nice before cleaning. Could it be the throttle cable connecting to the needle got tight when i re installed it? It was my bad as well as i didn’t loosen the cable adjustment screw when i detach the needle from the throttle. Anyone experienced this?thanks

yes check the throttle cable . It is a common adjusting error . Idle the scoot on the stand turn the handle bars to the left and right and make sure idle speed doesn't change.

if theres a cable adjustment, you can add some slack. you can lube the cable and housing inside. you can put a stiffer spring inside the carburetor to aid in the closing.

Mine does this if the idle mixture is too rich, have you tried adjusting the mixture screw (not the idle speed screw.)
EDIT: lean, not rich.

Tried fixing hanging idle issues today by adjusting the cable adjusters on the throttle handle side and on the carb cap where the needle is. It didn’t seem to fix it. Then tried adjusting the idle screw everytime it hangs up when revving and it did fix the issue i think temporarily cause if i adjust the idle screw it goes hanging again. Then i remembered when i cleaned the carb with a cleaner i stupidly forgot to take out the idle screw and air screw which i didn’t know have o-rings. Would that be the cause of this hanging idles as i screwed the o-rings? Do you know what is the correct order of placement when installing the idle screw/air screw back on with the orings and washers?

it goes o ring in first, then washer. spring then screw in last. or hold the screw, put the spring ON the screw. then the washer on top of spring on the screw. then the oring last. screw the assembly into carb. which ever is easiest for you.

Is that for mikuni carbs? I got this stock mikuni carb on my minarelli clone scooter.

Scoot still hangs occasionally but better than before. When i adjusted both the cable adjusters at the handle bar side and on top of the carb, it feels like it didn’t make any difference with how tight or loose the cable is. Is it a sign of stuck cable and might need to be lubed?

AS others have said, its not a throttle issue, its L-E-A-N!!Either you have an air leak or the pilot jet circuit is partially clogged..Got it?

Hi guys. Got the issues fixed after changing the o-rings on both the idle and air screws as it was getting quite loose and banged up. No more hanging idles thank God.

Hi Guys, i actually thought got the issues partially fixed by getting a new carb. Also dropped mainjet from 102 to 95 as the previous one seems to flood the carb and boggs pretty badly. Now my issues are: it idles fine runsnfine for the first 30secs to a minute then cuts me off. Starts right away the runs for 15secs then cuts off again and so on. Any ideas from you guys what could be the issue?
