If you are running the stock oil pump,an aftermarket cylinder can crash into it..Some fin notching may be needed or the pump will be broken when the cylinder is tightened..Ask me how I know...

I can also verify you will have to dremel a corner of one of the fins for the cylinder to seat all the way down. A sport BBK and Gears will make you very happy ,Until you want a pipe .

Thanks all, I ordered the Stage 6 secondary gear set today, also got a CDI, a 19mm carb and I did get a cheap chinese unbranded BBK (before reading here that I should get something better).
Well I will try the cheap bbk, it was cheap enough I can chalk it up as a learning experience if it doesn't suit my needs

The cdi is a easy fix in the service manual they have you clip a green wire on the stock eton cdi . That alone lets you rev unlimited Here is the service manual get2itparts.com/etontech/SM_PN2.pdfPage 61 references the cdi fix

Hope it came with a head..had very bad luck using a crap kit on an Eton resulting in a broken piston and hammered out small end on the con rod,on a fresh crankshaft..save money elsewhere!

I have replaced Cheap Kits for friends often
But bought these only once.
I put Airsal aluminum sport kit on my last Eaton Good Low end grunt peaked out at just over 9000 rpms aluminum kit about 90 bucks is what I paid .
Malossi and Polini cast iron sport Kits are the next notch up for quality for 130-140 dollar range . They Rev a little Higher 9500 rpms or so Better Low End Grunt . Cast Iron is more forgiving to tuning mistakes .
Athena Aluminum Sport 9800 rpms 160 bucks Airsal Looks cheap in all ways compared to the Athena . Best Low End Grunt
The Airsal was OK I would spend the extra for Malossi, Polini, Athena

It was cheap, only like $16 shipped, I figure I am paying that to prove or disprove the theory about still hitting a limiter of some sort.

Nope did not come with a head, it says you can use the stock head however the compression will be higher. So you think you broke the piston from detonation from too high compression?

Your stock Pipe and Current Port timing for the stock cylinder is limiting your rpms . The pipe also may need to be decarbonized after years of use it could be partially plugged .
The easiest way see to see if you have a cdi restriction is ride down the steepest hill you can find if your rpms stay steady .

I have tried going down steep hills, the speed is still limited, no matter how steep I might get 1-2 mph more. So does that suggest a CDI limitation or port timing/exhaust? I do plan to try to burn out the muffler with a blowtorch.

The cheap ones I bought are for tuning are digital . If you dont like the look just rig them up for tuning and take them off when you have set the pipe, cvt .
