Hello all, I have a quick question
I replaced my Drive Belt over the weekend and noticed that the rollers were pretty worn so I replaced those as well. I replaced them with 5.5g Rollers because the ones I took out of there weren't very heavy. My problem now is the scooter doesn't get up to speed or run as fast as it did before replacing the rollers. Does this mean I need to go heavier or lighter with the new rollers to achieve the performance it had before replacing the belt and rollers
Thank You

You will usually find a small reduction in top speed after fitting a new belt. They take a little while to bed in. The rollers sound too heavy. It's always best to weigh them. Even quarter of a gram can make a difference. Small pocket scales are cheap to buy. An essential tool for tuning your rollers.

ok thank you for your response, roughly how long do the belts take to wear in? and what size rollers would you recommend?

Rollers all depend on engine/rider/terrain. Best and easiest way to tune rollers is with a tachometer. They sell really cheap tachs on ebay that are a simple installation (wrap the wire around the spark plug wire and put the box where ever you want, done). Aim for 7500-8000 when tuning - that's where your engine should make the best power until you start modding it.

Roller tuning kits have various weights of rollers. They are for finding the correct weight only and seem to wear rapidly. Remove the tuning rollers and replace them ASAP. You can also add material to the inside of the rollers to add weight for testing.

How much did the old rollers weigh If they were heavier or lighter buy a set that size or close to it if there is Cvt tuning a gap bigger than 1 gram buy another set in between . example old ones were 7 grams new ones are 5.5 you find 6.9 ,6 ,5.5 run with each set and see which one gives you best top speed and feels best by butt dyno . if 2 are close run 1/2 of each like this 6,5.5,6,5.5,6,5.5 so that is even better . I find i take the the lightest ones that give me the best to speed .
another option if stock was heavier If you want to go a cheaper route cut 6 pieces of aluminum foil and stuff them inside 1/2 of the rollers do the same thing 5.5 /5.5+foil/5.5/5.5+foil/5.5 /5.5+foil. rundown the road wide open and see if you like speed better then run all 6 with foil whatever works best buy that weight .
Checking belt travel Since you put on a new belt after you have found the best roller weight
Make sharpie marker from the inner edge of the variator by the drive boss to the outer edge and run down the road wide open and hit your top speed. Check how many mm are left ? Ideally you should have 2-3 mm or less for full gear ratio

A roller tuning kit would be your best option.
