I’d like to determine the CDI and harness in the photo could have come from the factory without the wire that restricts rpm? Not sure if all scooters have this restriction? I couldn’t find any evidence of this wire being removed by the previous owner. Any help is appreciated as well as lessons learned or advice for this project. 2016 Baodiao Boom (Chinese Scooter) 49cc 100 miles

Looks like the most common type of CDI for the Chinese four-strokes like the 139QMB and GY6. That terminal is most often empty. You can look up "GY6 CDI pinout" to see many examples.

How fast do you go by gps on flat ground? Closer to 30 or closer to 40 mph . Go down a big hill if your speed stops increasing you still have a restriction .

On flat ground, it goes 30 mph. Never checked it by gps, only by speedometer. If I get on a down hill it does go over 30. I’ve seen it get up to 40mph on a downhill.

So we just ruled out a speed restriction from the cdi. The cdi would cut out the rpms and act like a brake on your speed . Check for a restriction in the variator . On the drive boss there would be a wedding band thickness ring that goes over the drive boss 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/3903/brand-model-specific-restriction-infoLook at the video on the bottom for the vino in that picture you will see the wedding band . Check for full belt travel on the variator take a sharpie from the inner edge to outer edge and run wide open doen the road . Measure in mm how much is left some variators you can get to under 2 mm with proper shimming and heavy enough variator weights .
