My son has a 125 the kick start will. Not engaged.unless you loosen the bolt on the clutch cover. .soon as yo UK tighten back down it will not engage any clue why

Hi and welcome to the forum,it,s difficult to sort from your description but something is loose and jamming the system,take the CVT (clutch) cover off to see if a washer or clip has slipped\broken.Take pictures as you investigate.use the tech section for self help,keep us in the loop.

If it's like mine the kick start gear was to close to the gear on the crankshaft. I had to shim the kick start away from the crankshaft as far as possible. Also have to have a gasket installed between the case parts.

levi76...many things can screw this up....many others can make it worse. As suggested above by geoffh...pictures are super valuable.
If you can simply pull the lever, then the cover, maybe the problem will show. Sometimes, the prior owner, just slapped it together, not caring about alignment.
Carefully, pull I apart, look and take pictures. It will help you, help us, help you...and your son should learn as well.
