so far I've been pretty lucky with the 50cc gy6 139qmb in my yamati eurostrada. mostly I've just wasted a lot of time on things and then days later find out that 5 bucks was all I needed to spend to fix it. when I got it, it was pretty rough. I cleaned it, degreased the engine, etc. I found out that the exhaust was so tight that the bolt sheared inside of the head, so the first real expense I had with the thing was a cheap $25 dollar goofit head from amazon, which has held up great, along with a new $10 dollar piston and rings. but then I found some electrical problems, and started by replacing the stator with a $15 dollar one from amazon, with 8 coils, which got me better spark but didn't fix the electrical problems entirely. the battery would slowly die and would never really charge. I searched everything on that dang scooter to try to fix it, spent tons of money. but it ended up being a $7 dollar voltage regulator, and the issue was fixed. as far as electrics go, this scooter is mint. I got a cheap $50 dollar exhaust system, with cool neo chrome like rainbows on the muffler, and that works good. $10 muriatic acid and a $10 dollar new vacuum pump fixes the rusty tank.
so all in all, I've really not lost much money at all
I traded a pk80 motorized bike that I built with a trash picked trek frame, and I got the scooter. so I spent like $120 on the scooter, the bike had a lot of problems so I was selling it anyway.
so all in all, the parts that I have on the scooter now, I've spent about $250 without the hours I waste on it accounted for
not including fluids and stuff like that
heres what she sounds like. i'm worried about the ticking noise I hear. i'm planning on getting a new Bendix and starter, and I really hope that that will solve it. I need to do work on the transmission, it drives and doesn't seem to slip, but lots of clutch material caked onto the inside of the cover every time I open it up. I got the valves to .004 on intake and .005 on exhaust yesterday and still the same noise. take a listen, what do you guys think the noise is? you can really hear it after about ten seconds in. this video was recorded before the regulator and my carb adjustments, that's why the enricher is disconnected. the noise persists today though
i'm really scratching my head on this one. of course it could also just be a loose part somewhere, maybe the throttle cable nuts lmao
