Hey guys, any tips on how to remove this freaking hard to get out engine bolt?😅 it’s harder to remove than my cars lug nuts lol don’t know how tight the last person did it from new haha I’m in the process of rebuilding my engine so neck the rear half of the scooter off. Thanks

That’s your engine mount long bolt. Get the bike up on something since when it comes out the only thing attaching your engine to the bike is your shock. I undo the nut on the other side, hold it up the bike a little so the whole weight of it isn’t on that bolt and yank it out. It’ll take a few times to get it out and you’ll have to hold the bike up each time. Ask a buddy to help.

As lilpinny stated...many scooters use the engine as "stressed member", meaning it plays a big part in the overall rigidity of the frame. This, has weight on it all of the time. In addition, your could have warpage at the mounting sleeves.
I would use a small hydraulic jack and just take a tiny bit of weight off by lift the engine, directly below that bolt. You cannot see it likely. Just play with engine and jack. Maybe it needs to go forward...maybe back.

Sorry guys i should have made it clearer. What i mean is i still couldn’t loosen the bolt/ nut off with a wrench or impact driver like it is the hardest nut i’ve tried to loosen even harder than the lugnuts on my car. Scared that i might break the nut. I’ve gone lefty loosy when trying to loosen it so i guess I’m going the right direction.

On my Yamaha it,s a 17mm head and nut, with the weight off it a 3ft strong arm does the trick,it is RH thread so lefty loosely is correct,if it snaps it will fall out, worst case is rounding the head off so use your bestest wrench.

If you can reach the nut on the other side, try a big breaker bar like geoffh says.
If it has some kind of "red" thread locker, you'll need to use a torch to heat it up before you break it.

try turning the "bolt " back the other way - ie. tightening it back up some ; then try loosening again with PB blaster or something squirted in before you loosen it . work it slowly back and forth if you can .. ??
undesirable alternative - buy a new bolt and nut . cut the head of the bolt off and drive the bolt out with a drift pin being very careful not to damage the rubber bushing in the mount holes on the motor . making sure the weight is off the bolt as described above before driving it out .

Unluckily i have stripped the nut out of shape now despite heating and using a breaker bar. Could the next option be bolt extractors? Or just carefully cut off the bolt with a dremel? By the way are you guys familiar what size are the thread for this engine mount?thanks

Best option is to still try and undo that nut and bolt, cutting it off means a replacement has to be gotten ,that may be difficult at the moment,I would try to file some flats on the nut and use an adjustable wrench to hold it.

OK sorry just realised I am resting my feet on my spare engine,17mm head and nut 12mm shaft it is threaded 30mm of the total 250mm shaft length the thread pitch is metric 1.25 mm (just a good guess on the pitch).you could replace it with threaded bar from home depot or hardware shop if you are in a bind.

yes. that's why I suggested finding the bolt before cutting .

By the way what usually is the torque spec for the long main engine bolt and nut? Thanks
