Oh well back to the drawing board, wherever I put it on back gets in the way of pedaling so going have be a front wheel motor. Did think of side hack wheel but not enough support there. Dammo

Well when back from Yorkshire I shall give it to the blacksmith to fabricate a mounting bracket for the motor and attach the hardware from there. Don't think my welding skills up to it.

I thought you had put this on the back burner. Sometimes it's easier to give the jobs to an expert. This Will be good fun for the winter.

Well now thing's are getting back to normal , yesterday I gave the motor and bracket along with the BMX to the blacksmith to fabricate a bracket that will fit. Told him no rush and will drop by in about a month see how it gone. One less stress.

It looks like it could be mounted above the axle with a little help from the smith.
I need to get an electric trike to get out more. I have a really nice streamside trail to pedal around on but the hills to get there are murder. The local constabulary take a really dim view to a motorized scoot on them. Plus where is the exercise?

My wife's electric trike is good as you can unlock the frame so it means and is not rigid the swivel hinge is on the front part of the lower down tube and the rear stays upright so it handles like a bicycle and doesn't tip like a rigid one can. Means she can now get out without worrying about her balance problem's given her a lot more freedom FrankenMech

I was looking at trikes last night and some don't seem to be horrible pricewise at $370 for a single speed unless they were electric then $3k seemed to be the price. I can buy a 1000W 48V front wheel electric motor kit less batteries for $230. 4x 20AH SLA batteries would be a prime choice for me. I don't like lithiums. I would have to add a few things like a 56V charger, longer seatpost, and higher handlebars. A two speed pedal gearbox might be nice.
We are supposed to get 1-2" of snow here and the last time that happened in October we lost a lot of trees that still had leaves on them.

Sounds like a good idea with tricycle I noticed state side electric bike kits appeared cheaper but buying a non powered tricycle then fitting your own kit is the way to go. I always use sla's on my tricycles I had as not likely to remove them to charge them. They do seem to over price tricycles with electric already fitted.

I have not priced out 56V chargers but I can rig one up easy enough. With a quick look saw some from £12-20 on eBay and a lot more at daft prices.
