Hi guys. Been a while haha finally done with my rebuild as all my parts finally came from overseas after our lockdown was lifted here in New Zealand. Have installed all parts but as the nice thing about scooters and troubleshooting, have encountered another obstacle and i think with the wirings. Have seem to connect all the wires according to the colors and connectors although 2 of the wires from the stator i got bit confused as one pair was coloured black red which is ok but the other pair was blue/white-red/white so i assume that is paired ok too?. Had everything like new piston, ring, cdi, spark plug, etc. I did have the spark plug boot come loose and is Still the stock boot but managed to screw it back. Now here’s thing when i electric started the scooter, it won’t start and i can only hear like a flickering sound and cuts out power for probably a split second and the numbers on the dash like resets for example the clock. Has anyone experienced this? Scooter was in garage without starting since march. Could it be the battery? Ignition coil? I can’t even hear it crank because it cuts out. Hopefully i didn’t damage anything. Signal lights are also working. Haven’t check the battery fuse yet

sounds to me like you battery terminals may be dirty causing a bad connection or the battery can no longer handle a load in any case try hooking up some jumper cables to the scoot from your car battery and jumping starting it just hold brake and press ignition as you usually would let us know how you make out if it works fine its your battery..

Check the ground terminal on the battery as well. That can cause these symptoms.

After recharging my battery, the split second loss reset that i experienced is gone and i can hear the cranking sound from the motor like when it’s spinning when i press the electric switch but couldn’t start the scooter. Starts fine with kick starting. Could it be the starter motor now?

Thanks man. Will try it tomorrow😀 forgot to mention like 3-4 months ago before I rebuilt this scooter, i sometime experience like when i press the electric start, it won’t work then after a couple of press it will suddenly crank and start. I had a problem like that on my Chinarelli. After some troubleshooting, i deduced that the starter relay was faulty. So i went to a local car stereo shop and bought a Bosch relay, red and black 10 gage power wire, and some remote wire. I removed the stock starter relay and the plug. Got some spade connectors to wire up to the relay. Got some ring terminals to hook up the red and black 10 gage power wire to the battery. Battery positive (+) to relay, relay to starter, and my chassis and starter ground (-) is all 10 gage wire now.

Hi, after some work, the relay is fine as it seems to spin the starter motor when i electric start. However, despite the motor spinning, it still won’t start the engine. The cog spins with the small round tooth gear but the variator shaft doesn’t go with it as it spins? Am i missing something? Or is my motor already weak despite spinning?

Your starter clutch may be shot If the gears on the right upper hand corner are in place

Hi Zino. Checked the starter clutch today and cleaned it, and seems to work fine although the movement is the opposite on your illustration as it is engaged when i turn it to point B and free wheels if turned to point A. Just weird as well because when i turn the variator by hand clockwise the hole assembly turns all together but when using the e-start, only the small tooth starter gear and starter cog(large toothed behind the variator) spins and the variator shaft and starter clutch stays still.

If you are saying it doesn't work like the picture it is shot .
The Crank turns counter clockwise when it is running when you kick start it the kick starter grabs the end of the crank and spins it counter clockwise .
The electric start turns the starter gear counter clockwise it catches the clutch and holds and spins the base of the crank .
If the starter clutch doesn't lock it wont spin the motor over
