If you are good at carb tuning, you can go wide open, no filter. If you are inexperienced and dont have a full array of pilot and main jets, stick with the airbox. Airbox set ups are quieter and easier to tune. You can get some nice power at Wide Open Throttle from a no filter 28mm OKO carb. However, if you do not have experience or familiarity with the carb circuits (air mix, pilot jet, main jet, needle settings) you will end up hating life and hating the carb. Wide open carbs are very noisy/loud too. I prefer the wide open (no filter) set up. Pretty much everyone here in Hawaii runs 28mm OKO carbs on 70cc set ups. That's how we do it here. Velocity stacks and all. It's up to you and the type of performance that you are looking for.
