It should not hurt anything, and if your generally available 'regular' grade is not quite good enough, you can mix in some of the 98 to up its octane. Sunoco, back in the day, had pumps which mixed regular (Sunoco 200) with its higher octane rated blend(Sunoco 260) in different ratios to provide a range of octanes at a range of retail prices. Last I knew, they added '190' grade for lower compression engines. Using the 98 with regular 87 would bring up the 87 if you need the anti-knock/anti-ping protection of higher octane. tom

I always run 93 in my 150, and it runs great! I like running high octane in all my scoots just to be safe, and i actually do feel like when its tuned right, it feels a bit faster. The 87 and 89 octane just feels like it runs a bit messier. But if you're running the big bore kit, definitely the 98, or any high octane. Gotta let her drink good stuff 😂

I've always run 87 in mine, never any signs of predetonation when I've had it apart. 47mm piston with stock head, but I always had it jetted a little rich. If you have a head designed for your piston, and jetted correctly, you should be fine with regular pump gas.
If you're running a lean jetted 50mm piston on stock head then 98 might be good, otherwise you're just spending money that you don't have to.
