i bought a IceBear Vision GY6 150cc and Im trying to tune the cvt. Stock weights are 14 gram and the stock belt is 835mm. i purchased a Prima roller weight kit, a 842mm belt, and some SS-P shims. i have tryed a bunch of different weights, shims combo and i seem to not be geting anywhere. 13-16 gram weights produce almost the exact same 0-40 time and top speed. The variator closes more and more as i add heavier weights (on the center stand). is that normal? shouldn't the weights only effect the speed at which it reaches full closer? contra spring to heavy? should i try a better variator? side note: the biggest gain i saw was adding .08" of spacer to the boss which gave me an almost 2 second gain in 0-40mph but has my rpms really high and limits top speed to around 48. thanks in advance! if anyyone is interested i did a write up about the scoot on adv rider advrider.com/f/threads/icebear-vision-150-zuma-clone.1439424/

You may want to try other shims. That 0.080" spacer (2mm) is too much from the sound of the result. Maybe 0.040" or 0.060" would give you a better result. Sometimes 0.020" can make quite a difference.
If it's the stock contra spring, it shouldn't be too stiff. It is normal for weight to affect belt travel.

They definitely give me more acceleration but I’m looking for more top speed. I’m around 53-54 sitting normal. My goal is 58-60. Do you think a better variator would fully close with 12-14 grams? Right now the only way to get the belt to the outside of the variator is with 16 grams. My only other thought is the belt is to short. It’s an 842mm which is 7mm longer then the stock one.

Have you tried the stock belt while tuning? I liked the results with my stock belt better than the 842 on mine. Here are clips so you can see for yourself with different variators and belts. www.youtube.com/watch?v=mY5lx7QqEwk

Yes I have tried both belts. Probably 15 different combinations with the same few mile ride after each one. I took notes each time and used a gps 0-40 and 1/8th mile timer. The stock belt is so tight and has much less range on the pulleys. I’m at a loss. Right now I’m running 16grams with the long belt and seeing afew mph gain with around the same acceleration. Just wish I could get the belt as high with say 12 grams as I am with the 16. I love the scoot and have enjoyed modifying it to take on a 1,000 mile adventure. I have watch tons of your videos there great! I did most of your PDI.

I really like the new project! I have had a bunch of similar horizontal based Honda platforms. XR50,XR70, pitbikes, ATC70 even a madass lol. You really can’t beat the aftermarket support on those engines. My original thought on this 1,000 mile trip was motor swapping two CT110s. But always wanted to do a scooter adventure lol
