I'm not sure if this will work as a secondary gear, but they claim it does. Considering it for my buddy, but was hoping to see if it worked for someone else first.

whats a reasonable gear ratio? 10.5:1? 9.5:1 seems reasonable but i guess not?

Those gears do not work on Adly short case the drive axle is much larger than the inner diameter of those gears neither one will fit in the bike or on the shaft.

Primary = 13/48 = 3.692307692307692:1 Secondary = 12/36 = 3:1 Final Drive Ratio = 11.07692307692308:1 Many say this is the ideal ratio. so i've heard, to each his own

I was told the new PGO motors came with a 13:1 ratio stock. EDIT: Brent keeps a list of known gear ratios and I just found it. The PGO motors come 11.5:1 stock. I also saw that information from whoaabuddy. I think the gears from a Jog90 motor will work on the preexisting PGO gear shafts. Of course this means you need a good press to install them which most people don't keep.

His thread is confusing. www.modernbuddy.com/forum/topic28196.htmlI don’t think the Jog gear fit on the Buddy 50. I think he ordered a different gear from sip. A Polini. At least thats how I’m reading it. I’d love to know. I figure finding a shop with a press and giving them a few bucks to use it wouldn’t be so hard.

Hippo you may want to contact fugazliv "Matt" from this forum as he can best help you. I believe he has the primary up gears that will drop right in.That being said i believe it would still be a bit too low of gearing for your liking but to each his own.

I have a roughhouse sport and this thread got me thinking more about my gearing. I just pulled the CVT cover and did a quick axle rev count while I spun the wheel, it's about 13/1.

The prebug zuma willl push 10 to 1 gears with a athena sport kit and a leo vince zx pipe that is a under 10 hp combo and the scoot takes off strong and will wheelie .
The beauty of the cvt is it can be set to spin to where the power is with lighter weights and stiffer clutch springs.

Do the buddy 50 and roughouse 50 share the same gears and case?

The cases are different? I didn't know that. I thought the 50cc 2T motors were all the same from PGO. The cylinders, cranks and bearings are all the same. Whats different about the Buddy cases? Side cover stuff?
I think what I am going to do for now is stick with the stock ratio and look into gearing as an option if I find myself riding longer distances.
This is another topic entirely but what throttles do you guys like the most? The stock Genuine throttle just isn't doing it for me. I am looking for something with a shorter throw.
