Well I let the Ultra Black set up over night. Gonna put the head and everything back on and torqued down this morning.

Well I went ahead and ported the head the best I could without disassembly. Ports are now 19mm both intake and exhaust. At least the exhaust could go bigger but with only 18.5/16 valves I think it will be good enough. I also tried to smooth out the intake and I'm gonna put my 19mm step bit threw the isolator. Hope this little extra attention to detail helps push this baby kit over the top. First attempt at a first start here in the next hour or so. Fingers crossed

The little details make all the difference . I prefer to go slow and by hand . It keeps me from going too far and not being able to go back
Good to see this coming together .

The little details make all the difference . I prefer to go slow and by hand . It keeps me from going too far and not being able to go back Good to see this coming together . I'm glad I decided to go ahead an do the rough port and polish. I mean the ports could be ACTUALLY polished a bit better but if I'm honest this Chinese head I got from a wolf RX50 had really good ports to begin with, there was no slag to speak of at the start. It took all of 40 minutes to get the ports to roughly 19mm. There is a ledge of sorts on the short side of my intake manifold that I can't get smoothed out. But I don't think there is much I can do outside of an aftermarket. And honestly if I keep it, I've done found one that will accept a PWK. And it's less then $45. Anyways, waiting for RTV to set up is a bore. Once it sets, the intake and carb, covers, and pipe goes on. Then set lash, change oil and first fire

Well I went ahead an just ordered a 82-105 4mm jet set. I use to have a 90 or a 92 but currently I can only find the 78,80,82 that are your normal stock 50cc jets and the 95 that has been in the 20mm forever now. Don't want jetting to be the cause of another failure or be too rich and not allow the best performance. Guess I've learned something from blowing up 2 kits on the 2T.

Well she's back together and runs again. But now the issue, valve tap, at .004". Maybe 3rd time is the charm. I don't understand. The specs I found say .002 to .003. Are they wrong. Sounds bad like it is and I am scared to run it

Ok gotta say it. I HATE 4 STROKES. Adjusting the valves has got to be the most stressful thing. At least it is for me. Gonna let it cool off and try again after I have a beer. I did get a short couple of runs down the street. Got to about 20-25 (25-28 on speedo). But it has zero power. And I'm not sure if it carb related, or valve related. Guess I should worry about getting this valve tap dealt with first.

Sometimes having a beer or 2 pays off. Because I got the valve lash set at .003 with no tapping. Then I've reset the 20 mil to 2.5 turns out on idle fuel, #2 from top on needle. I've come to these conclusions. With the slight stumble at 1/4 throttle and 2.5 turns out, I need to go from 32 to 34 on pilot. And if I try to go WOT from the dig it flat dies. I've gotta come down from 95 to 92 or maybe 90 on the main jet. Was able to get to 45ish (50 on speedo) taking it easy. Once I get some more miles on it i will refigure again. Until my main jets get here I'm pretty much only able to change the pilot, Unless I put my other big 4mm jet in the 18mm carb i have. Let me go find that carb

I have half decided to wait on porting the head. Don't want to risk messing a valve seat up. Good call if you have a head 64mm valves, the wall is extremely thin, I’ve been looking at this very closely. I’d never do it. On the other hand if you have 69mm valves you’ve got plenty of meat in there, you might even tinker with opening up the exhaust a mm or two. While I’m still new to scooters, I’ve been riding motorcycles for years and while some people polish both intake and exhaust ports, there’s no gain on motorcycles to polishing an intake, you might notice a decrease in performance. The reason is that you want the turbulence in your air/fuel fixture to get the best burn. As for the exhaust, polish away or even experiment with removing a bit of material to expedite getting those gasses out. If you decide to do that I’d be very interested in seeing some photos and hearing your report on any performance improvement. I’m thinking of doing that with a spare 69mm head I’ve got.

Let me go find that carb I went to 34 on my idle jet too and 87 on main - it’s a stock 19mm carb. My scooter has gy6 50cc with 47mm BBK in a Madddog. It is snappy. However this set up is running rich. I think it might be the idle jet might needing to go up, since it almost dies coming to a stop from WOT. Previous owner put header and exhaust (no packing or anything in it) for 150cc on this scooter, looks cool but is too loud, so it might also be that there’s not enough back pressure.

John thats a nice looking chuckus. And i personally like that pipe. Amd that plug looks similar to mine. Rich. But if you ride like I do, your wot pretty much all the time. Could be safe but not best for power. Question do you live at sea level, trying to figure my own jetting at this point. And for the record, my head is a 64mm valve. But the only place I had to port was right at the mouth of the port, maybe the first inch.

I think my main jet is a bit large and the idle jet a bit small that’s why the rich plug but engine almost dying when coming to a stop. I feather the throttle slowing down. Once stopped, idles fine. 49cc Scoot has a very eye opening video on the difference in material thickness between 64 and 69, I had seen it just after look8ng for info on these engines.

That's a good bit of info to have. If I port another one I will be getting a 69mm to port. Glad I didn't open the top of the port anymore
