Last question. My boys genuine was in pretty darn good shape when we got it, it actually had all the body screws and cosmetics were nice. My cpi on the other hand seems like the guy who owned it just kinda did the bare minimum to keep this thing moving, I’m missing a crap ton of body panel screws and clips for the screws to actually screw into. I’ve seen body panel screw kits for dirt bikes, anyone know if maybe there is a specific kit for scoots or maybe body panel screws are mostly universal? Thanks again guys, going to work on our bikes again wed or Thursday. I’ll post tomorrow about the brake work we need to do on the rough house Those clips and screws are pretty standard you can pick them up at a hardware store or when you order your next batch of scooter parts here is what they come in www.dynoscooter.com/collections/yamaha-zuma-1/products/scooter-fairing-clips-pack-of-20

Good news guys, got a new throttle cable and installed it on my cpi. Works great, I do need a new throttle housing I think though. Had some trouble with the oil pump and the cable that turns it up and down. Got it working though. When I change my cylinder I’ll probably delete the pump and premix, just cause I like the idea of less parts to fail. I still got my cpi pretty much torn down, all the plastics off and such. I did order a yasuni r and a Malossi variator for it so when I get them I’ll put em on one at a time, I’m thinking pipe first make sure I’m jetted right and then put my new variator on and tune from there. Any suggestions on a place to start with the jets? Oh also got a set of clutch springs any suggestions on which color to start with there?
Anyone know off hand what size rollers the Malossi variator takes? Looks like stock size on the CPI was 15x12, not sure what the Malossi is though
My sons genuine- we got his new Dellorto/Malossi carburetor and got it half installed. Turns out we need to get some nuts to actually attach the intake adapter on since the original screwed right to the stock carb. I did manage to hook up the original throttle cable even though the carb has a straight up hook up. I’m gonna post some pics tomorrow on that and get your guys opinions on if I need to just go ahead and change the throttle cable and get a 90 degree fitting or if it is gonna be ok. There was enough cable with it being hooked up the way it is to fully close and open the carb slide. Waiting on my buddies custom bracket for the tecnigas pipe to fully reassemble it though.

16 x 13 rollers for the variator for the Yasuni pipe some rollers in that 5-6 gram range is What you will most likely need . That pipe likes to run low 8s to low 9s for rpms. You will also need some stiffer clutch springs medium or hard for your stock clutch so you take off in the power band

What are we thinking main jet for my cpi with the yasuni r? Stock air box, willing to drill holes in it or replace with pod type filter, would prefer not to put a pod on it though. I’m thinking I’ll put a 80 in? Maybe 75, the stock jet has no markings whatsoever on it so I don’t have anything to go off of.
When you guys have installed a Dellorto carb did you get 90 degree fittings for the throttle cable? Did you use your Stock throttle cable?

Go with the biggest jet you have hopefully it makes it gurgle and then work your way down .
Just do speed runs working biggest on down Take the biggest one that gives you the best top speed . Wide open Plug chop that one to make sure you have a 2 mm smoke ring.
I would get ahold of a temp gauge for long term safety of your build . That way you can watch for temp spikes. MY target for safe jetting gives me level tempatures below 350 on wide open 5-6 mile runs .

Update here, I went back yesterday to work on my cpi and get it running. I double checked everything, spark plug and cap, fuel valve, cdi wiring and didn’t find anything. But when I went to start it it fired right up. This makes me thing I maybe knocked my plug cap loose or maybe the plug got wet, either way it’s running good now! I got it running good and I’m starting my cvt tuning here soon. I’m gonna try 6 gram rollers and go from there.
Clutch springs- I ordered a set of Malossi clutch springs that supposedly work with the stock clutch or their delta clutches. It was a set of three in white, yellow and black. I know they’re supposed to be for certain rpm’ s does anyone know which is which? I looked around some online but couldn’t get a definitive answer. Hoping one of you knows.
The Dellorto conversion on my sons roughhouse- we got it put together and we got the carburetor all but hooked up. But I’m worried about using the stock throttle cable and not having the 90 degree fitting for it. I think I said in a previous post that I checked and twisting the throttle does fully open and close the slide. Any input from somebody who used a Dellorto?
Thanks guys, really looking forward to getting these on the road!

Variator locking tool? So I’m finding what looks like two different options. One looks like a straight piece of metal with two screw holes and teeth in the middle of it. The other looks like a y and can also be used for clutch removal. So I gotta do some clutch work too and I’m thinking it will be better to get the dual perpose tool from the get go. What do you guys use? I’ve seen homemade options as well but would just rather get one. eBay has a ton of them but they’re all coming from China and I try not to order from China. Any suggestions??

I prefer the dedicated variator tool and a home made clutch tool, try a scooter supplier like Parts for Scooters,to save the wait from China.

The clutch tool also work to get the clutch nut on and off a couple wrps on cement will get it off and a couple wraps also will get it to the right torque spec when you put it on .
