So help me God Tyler, if you mod that thing beyond repairing what needs to be repaired... No de-restricting, no test fitting parts, no modifying... just maintenance. Let the bike be a reliable low 50's scoot that will run forever with the rev limiter doing it's job. If you want to modify it, import the sweet Euro front turn signal housings. I'll allow that. Matt Info on the Euro turn signals? I'm gonna throw some pretty stuff at it... already ordered some red grips and buttons haha! Found fancy ignition plates, as well. BUT - no sir, don't you worry as the only thing I'm gonna be getting for this engine is the necessary bits. Polini does make an aftermarket variator and honestly I don't even think I'll get that... anytime soon. New belt today, along with new sliders in the vari and the new stock vari should be here in a month or so. That's it.

Last night was laundry night, and my on-site laundry room now closes at 8 so I had to knock it all out right after work... but that gave me time to tinker! I really just needed to flush the coolant and add new, which I did and it was a pretty simple task. Thumb screw under the radiator and a 8mm nut on the return line. Emptied those, then refilled with Belray Moto Chill Racing Coolant. Then I got into installing the new belt, and a friend gave me his old GY6 clutch assembly to replace mine with the worn out bearing. Was gonna buy a new one altogether, but wouldn't ya know we are out of stock right now. The used one is healthy, so I pulled the yellow 1.5k contra out and took the worn clutch pack off. My Honda's clutch pack looks to be newly replaced, and the pulleys stock had the spring anti-vibration damper deal! The spring base was stainless steel even. I transferred the spring base setup over to the healthy pulleys and then installed the stock spring and clutch pack. So much smoother! I kept the Ban Jing bell installed, again... cuz it's not hurting anything and is actually lighter than stock. Then I installed the new belt, a Gates BOOST 748x17.5; stock calls for 750x18.5 but that's too thick in my opinion... the stock belt is literally half way up the variator at idle completely limiting the CVT's range. The Gates belt went on as I thought it would, and gave the that extra gear range so take off feels MUCH better - same top speed tho! I popped 11g sliders in the variator with the new belt to up the RPMs a tad bit. Check out the variator's wear: And the drive face looks fine, normal: The new parts all together have the takeoff feeling twice as fast and smooth at the same time, and I still hit 48 with the limiter. At this point, I pulled over and removed my speedometer cable and zip tied it to my fork tube. I then took off with my GPS speedometer reading (which verified the Honda speedometer is dead accurate) and again... right at 48mph I hit the limiter. Now this is weird, because I know the RPMs are higher all around so I almost thought I would hit the limiter at 45mph or below. Something is triggering this at 48... or maybe it is hitting the same RPM at that speed with each setup so far? I don't wanna be tinkering too much with this, at all really, so I think I'll pop 13g sliders back in it for the lower RPMs and better fuel economy and just ride it. That was the plan, right? Next step is the new variator when it arrives and it's good. Man, this thing rides good.

The Elite 110 is legendary for being bulletproof. There's one rider at ADV that put 50k on one and it is still going strong on the original motor.
I had one and got 57 actual mph top speed with a few minor tweaks. Lighter Dr. Pulley slider weights and shaved the variator boss a few mils to get the belt maxed out on the variator (stock variator components). Got about 100 mpg on it during mixed riding. It really felt more like a 150 in the power department. Other than a better rear shock and wider tires not much else needed. Sellers remorse, I miss it!
Put a custom basket with passenger pad and fabricated my own front euro turn signals. Threw on a Stebel horn too.
That's the red scooter in my avatar.

Stock rev limiter should give you 52.5 mph with stock components.

Stock rev limiter should give you 52.5 mph with stock components. It's gotta be the worn variator then... I've heard 52 from a lot of folks now.

So I put a new stock belt on and it brought me to 51 for a brief second then held 50, even in the headwind. Sometimes I'm a fool for trying wrong parts but hey it's fun to learn right? Haha.. I did throw a 1k contra spring on and it helped the CVT greatly. Smoother shifting from a stop with the stock belt.
I can't wait for the new variator to arrive and then I should prolly see that 52. Then I can cruise at 48 with traffic not revving out... the end goal.

I think it's an electronic rev limiter. I increased the gearing slightly with Dr. Pulley sliders and shaving the drive boss, top speed went up 5 mph. I felt like 57 mph was probably the max speed the engine could manage, so didn't bother to try for more.

Shaving the boss won't make it go any higher if the variator is already closing fully. Hmm. Still curious! Could you ever get a pic of the variator belt side for me? I wanna compare it against mine, see the wear differences.

So tonight I swapped rear tires for a 120/90-10 This was the first tire that the fire trick didn't work to set the bead. Busted out the compressor and it walked right up. I inflated to 30psi and I got the wheel on the scoot without deflating the tire and it fit great. No tire rubbing anywhere and it feels MUCH better in the corners (as all new tires do haha). I hit 52 again, top speed. For some reason I did that the first time I ran sliders with a fresh belt and yesterday and today it was doing 48 tops. Weird. Now 52. Can't wait to get the fresh variator in and then I'll prolly pop a fresh belt on with it. IDK how y'all are getting to 57...
