I see in the various gy6 rebuild kits that there are Pistons that are full skirted versus narrower, Slipper skirts. Is there an advantage in one verses the other? I imagine the slipper skirt would be less rotational weight and result in higher Revs. Is there more or less stability or wear with a full skirted piston?

Heya Eric. I'll give you my 2 cents. Slipper Skirt pistons have been around for quit awhile. They are indeed lighter and they also have less parasitic drag, for lack of a better term, than full skirts. They work just fine in a GY6. Never had a problem with them.

Here are two examples. On the left a 50mm for a 139qmb 49cc. On the right a 63mm for a 157qmj 150cc. I'm guessing this is what you mean. I use the right one on my scoot and have been more than satisfied with it's performance. They are of good quality and reasonably priced. I get them from a scooter shop in PR. They're on Ebay. They ship fast as well. And no I don't work for them.

Not sure how to add pictures but, I have purchased two kits. One is full skirt/flat top. The second kite is a narrower, slipper skirt that is a slight pop up top and has many oil vented holes in the skirt. The narrow skirt was stretch wrapped into the cylinder and looked much narrower until I fully unwrapped the package. I will run the narrow/pop up in my performance build and keep the second set for something in the future. Thank you.

Sounds like a good plan Eric.
